Full House star Jodie Sweetin is “OK” after being shoved to the ground by a Los Angeles Police Department officer during a protest of the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe V. Wade, a representative for Sweetin has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
A video of the incident, captured by freelance photojournalist Mike Ade, shows the actress taking charge and attempting to lead a group of protestors up an embankment and off of the 101 Freeway when an armored LAPD officer shoves her down the incline and causes her to fall on the pavement. Fellow protestors quickly come to her aid, helping Sweetin to her feet and admonishing the cops for their violence.

“I think people are shocked when they see Stephanie Tanner, something happen to her, it makes it more real, and I hate that,” Sweetin said on E!’s Daily Pop Monday, referring to her Full House role that launched her career as a child star. “I hate that it takes people knowing someone or someone they recognize for people to be outraged or take action.”
“Above all, I want to continue to not make this about me and continue to bring the focus back to women’s rights and also police brutality,” she continued. “If people are disturbed by what they saw, I want to tell you, I’ve spent a lot of time protesting out in the streets and that was a very minor incident of police brutality.”

Following the viral video, the police department released a statement to the press, writing: “The LAPD is aware of a video clip of a woman being pushed to the ground by officers not allowing the group to enter on foot and overtake the 101 freeway. The force used will be evaluated against the LAPD’s policy and procedure. As the nation continues to wrestle with the latest Supreme Court decision, the Los Angeles Police Department will continue to facilitate 1st Amendment right, while protecting life and property.”
“I’m extremely proud of the hundreds of people who showed up yesterday to exercise their First Amendment rights and take immediate action to peacefully protest the giant injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court. Our activism will continue until our voices are heard and action is taken. This will not deter us, we will continue fighting for our rights. We are not free until ALL of us are free.”
