John Wick has mesmerized audiences with a memorable story and unmatched choreography with fantastic fight scenes since its initial debut in 2014. Keanu Reeves plays the titular character, which the actor has since become known for alongside his role as Neo in The Matrix franchise. It’s been three years since the release of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, and audiences are eager to feast their eyes on the latest installment when the fourth entry arrives in theaters on March 24, 2023.

So far, we’ve only received a short teaser trailer for the film and not much news regarding its progress. However, in an interview with Collider, director Chad Stahelski offers details surrounding John Wick: Chapter 4. When asked about the run-time for the movie, the director wouldn’t say the exact minutes but said, ‘It’s longer than the other three, but not that long.’ The first three films average around 2 hours, so expect John Wick 4 to clock in around the 2-hour 10-min mark or longer.

The movies don’t want to reach a length deemed too long, as the films heavily revolve around the intense action and depiction of realistic fighting styles. If John Wick begins to reach the 2-hour 30-min range, audiences may tire out and deem the novelty has worn off. However, any John Wick super-fan will tell you to bring on the run-time; they just want more high-level combat.

Chad Stahelski Confirms John Wick 4 Is Nearly Complete

Initially set to release in May 2021, John Wick 4 has received several delays. First, the film was pushed back a year and eventually delayed again to the current date of March 24, 2023. At this point, fans want to see the movie arrive in theaters without another problem. When the filmmaker was asked about the progress of the next John Wick iteration, he said, ‘The movie is essentially done. There’s probably another few weeks of tweaking overall, then we lock picture, and we’re about music and sound effects.’

Audiences should be ecstatic to hear that John Wick is nearly finished, aside from essential VFX work. Of course, fans will be devastated if another delay is brought to the film. However, Stahelski seems confident that Chapter 4 should be on track for its March release date. You can watch the official teaser for the film below.

“We’re on the final stretch for picture lock, and then we have our VFX music. But this is the furthest along I’ve ever been, this much in post. We love the music that we’ve got so far. We still have Tyler Bates doing the composition on some of the bigger sequences. VFX are going to be coming in throughout the rest of the year. But we’re dangerously close. In our edit, as far as picture lock goes, we’re within a few minutes of locking. Our sequences are done. The movie is essentially done. There’s probably another few weeks of tweaking overall, then we lock picture, and we’re about music and sound effects.”
