Johnny Depp Explains Finger Injury To Children In Resurfaced Video

A video recorded of Johnny Depp at a children’s hospital in 2015 is making the rounds on social media recently due to comments the actor makes about his finger. As is now public knowledge, Depp suffered an injury during an altercation with ex-wife Amber Heard that resulted in the severing of one of his fingertips. On the stand, Depp testified that this happened when Heard threw a vodka bottle at him that shattered against his hand. Heard has previously accused Depp of causing the injury to himself and is expected to address the incident when she goes on the stand.

In any case, having the tip of his finger surgically reattached was not a fun experience for Depp. Shortly after the incident, Depp put on the Captain Jack Sparrow outfit to visit a children’s hospital, something he was known for doing quite often. This time, however, he had a noticeable bandage on his finger, stemming from the incident. In a resurfaced video, a child innocently asks Depp what happened to his finger. The actor improvises an answer in character as Jack Sparrow, joking that he bit his own finger as a way of avoiding the real story.

“My finger? I bruised it very badly,” Depp tells the children. “I ate it. I bit it off. I was starving. I was, I was starving. I bit me finger. I ate it! The tip of it. Just a little. The nail wasn’t good.”

Johnny Depp Says Amber Heard Caused the Finger Injury

Johnny Depp told a very different story about what happened to his finger while in court recently. The former Pirates of the Caribbean star testified that he had poured himself two or three shots of vodka in an effort to calm down after an argument with Amber Heard. Allegedly, Heard was angry to discover him drinking, throwing a vodka bottle at him. That bottle is said to have missed, but when Depp responded by pouring himself another shot from a separate, larger bottle, Heard allegedly tossed that one at him as well.

Before the trial, Heard had alleged that Depp injured his finger himself by smashing a phone. She is expected to speak further about her side of the story, which will presumably include the finger injury, when she takes the stand in the coming days. Many spectators seem to feel that the trial is going heavily in Depp’s favor, but Heard will have her chance to set the record straight as she sees it when she provides her own testimony.
