Johnny Depp has been enjoying his time away from the courtroom by jumping back into the world of music, and many cheering fans welcomed him with open arms. Recently, Jeff Beck surprised fans attending a stop on his UK tour with an appearance from Depp. The two performed multiple songs as the fans in attendance cheered them both on.
It wasn’t a one-and-done deal for Beck’s fans to see Depp on this tour, as the former Pirates of the Caribbean star spent another night on stage. The two performed a live rendition of Isolation, a song they’d previously collaborated on in 2020. They also performed six other songs, including The Beatles’ " Day in the Life," Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing,” and Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.” Per Variety, Depp and Beck performing had also garnered a standing ovation from the fans.
“He came knocking on my dressing room door about five years ago and we haven’t stopped laughing since," Beck said when introducing Depp.
There had been speculation Depp would be showing up at additional shows featuring Beck, but there’s unclear if any more duets are coming on this tour beyond the two that have happened so far.
Jurors Are Deliberating a Verdict in the Johnny Depp Trial
Dior
Johnny Depp sued ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million, alleging she had damaged his career with a 2018 op-ed describing herself as an abuse survivor. Depp argues that he has never been physically abusive with Heard and that false allegations had cost him major movie roles. Heard counter-sued for $100 million, as she insists she is telling the truth about Depp abusing her. The trial has since wrapped up and now the jurors are deliberating.
While the allegations had certainly slowed down the movie roles being offered to Depp, odds are he will be able to star in big-name feature films again after a verdict is declared, regardless of whether he wins the case. In the court of public opinion, Depp is seen as innocent and fans wants to see him back on movie screens again. There are rumors of the actor appearing in Beetlejuice 2 and there will certainly be other opportunities to come, but fans shouldn’t get too excited about Depp returning for Pirates of the Caribbean 6. In the trial, Depp said he felt so betrayed by Disney firing him over the allegations that he could never play that role again.
“It was like somebody hit me in the back of the head with a 2x4,” Depp said. “Captain Jack Sparrow was a character I built from the ground up and was something that I, of course, put a lot of [myself] into the character and also having worked on these films with these people and added much of myself, much of my own re-writing of the dialogue and scenes and jokes. I didn’t quite understand how, after that long relationship and quite a successful relationship certainly for Disney, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent.”
He added, “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye, as it were. A franchise can only last for so long and there’s a way to end a franchise like that and I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out, to end the franchise on a very good note. I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”
