The Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial has made a star out of Camille Vasquez, one of the attorneys on Depp’s legal team. Because the trial was televised with the footage also streaming online, millions of people all over the world had watched the courtroom proceedings. There had been quite a bit of chatter on social media about Vasquez, who viewers felt did an incredible job defending Depp, work that ultimately led to a favorable outcome for the embattled actor.

On Tuesday, it was announced in a press release that Vasquez has been promoted by her law firm, Brown Rudnick. The statement references her 10+ years of experience as a trial lawyer before praising her as a key member of Depp’s legal team at the defamation trial. After the news was announced, Vasquez began trending on social media once again as Depp fans gave her support and noted how much she deserves the promotion.

“We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership,” Brown Rudnick CEO and chairman William Baldiga said. “Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.”

Vasquez added, “I am delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me its full vote of confidence by having me join the partnership. I’m proud of the uniquely talented team I’ve had the privilege to lead, which exemplified teamwork and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing to represent Brown Rudnick’s culture of excellence.”

Camille Vasquez Has Been Getting Approached by Talent Agents

Camille Vasquez had her options moving forward, and that has even included the chance to stay on television. The New York Post reported that there had been a bidding war between law firms looking to lock in Vasquez before she made her decision to stay with Brown Rudnick as partner. Additionally, Vasquez is also reportedly being “flooded with offers from Hollywood,” which includes offers from several traditional television networks and cable channels.

A Post source is quoted as saying, “Talent agents are circling Camille because they recognize that she is the unicorn — a smart, savvy, poised attorney whose impactful performance during the trial propelled her to a rare level of visibility. And the fact that she is a woman of color is an added bonus.”

Oddly enough, many fans had already been calling for Vasquez to make the switch to acting by replacing Amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Because Vasquez is an attorney and not a professional actress, the odds of that happening don’t seem too high, but the idea had gone so far as to have people creating fan art imagining Vasquez in that role. Vasquez was also just the latest in a line of celebrities volunteered by fans to take over that role, however, following names like Emilia Clarke, Blake Lively, and even Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell.
