Johnny Knoxville came up short in his plan to win WWE’s Royal Rumble match. Taking place once a year, the annual pro wrestling show features what’s called the Royal Rumble with 30 competitors tossing one another over the top rope until there’s just one person left standing. Ahead of the 2022 Royal Rumble, Knoxville had pledged to win the match as his New Year’s resolution.
The Jackass Forever star did make it to the Rumble, but things didn’t exactly go as planned. While Knoxville had an extravagant entrance, he didn’t get in much offense against the WWE superstars. He was pummeled by the likes of AJ Styles and Montez Ford before Ridge Holland placed him on the outside of the ring, clinging to the ropes. Sami Zayn then eliminated Knoxville with a boot to the face.
“Alright, it’s New Year’s Day, and I have been thinking about all of the things I want to do in 2022,” Knoxville said in a video tweeted at the start of the year. “Of course, Jackass Forever comes out February 4th, and I am happy about that, but I want to do something else. Something big. That’s right, I want to make the run for the Rumble. I am talking about the WWE’s Royal Rumble. Thirty men enter, one guy is left standing. That’s me.”
He added: “You know, I’ve seen the current list of WWE wrestlers, and frankly, I’m not impressed. They don’t have anyone big enough to throw me over the top rope. What, is Little E or Roman Ruins going to do it? Ha! And Vince McMahon, you’ve always been really kind to us, and we appreciate it, but I sincerely hope you are auditioning bigger, tougher talent for the 2022 Royal Rumble because I don’t want to hurt anyone. So, just like the shirt says, ‘Johnny Knoxville, world champ.’ Woo hoo!”
Johnny Knoxville Goes Through Much Worse in Jackass Forever

Getting eliminated from the Rumble just as easily as he entered into it was not flattering for Johnny Knoxville, but he’s certainly been through much worse. He went through one of his most devastating injuries yet while filming Jackass Forever. One stunt involving a bull left Knoxville with a brain hemorrhage, and the family man says he would take a back seat if any more Jackass movies are made.
“I don’t know, we could do another Jackass,” Knoxville recently explained to Extra. “We have a young cast. We have a ton of ideas we didn’t even get to. But if there was another one, I would probably step back and sit next to Jeff, more times than not, behind the camera. But we could do another one, yeah.”
Jackass Forever is set to be released in theaters on Feb. 4, 2022. If you want to check out his elimination, you can watch the Royal Rumble show which features Knoxville’s appearance streaming on Peacock.
