Power attorneys Camille Vasquez and Ben Chew aren’t finished talking about their client Johnny Depp’s defamation trial just yet. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the legal team will be featured in a Discovery+ UK docuseries that serves as a follow-up to the previously-released docuseries Johnny vs. Amber. The first part focused on the previous defamation trial in the UK when Depp sued The Sun’s publisher, while this new two-part follow-up doc will explore the more recent defamation trial in Virginia when Depp sued Heard personally.

The Johnny vs. Amber follow-up will present extensive evidence and the testimonies of both sides, and it’s confirmed to include Vasquez and Chew speaking about the trial. Each of the two episodes will present one side of the argument along with key submitted evidence and witness testimonies to essentially leave it up to the viewers to decide which one of the two they believe.

“When we commissioned Johnny vs. Amber for Discovery+, we knew that we were tackling a very sensitive case but one with huge global profile and interest that would resonate with our audience,” Clare Laycock, senior VP planning and insights and head of Entertainment at Warner Bros. Discovery UK, said in a statement. “Since it premiered in December last year, Johnny vs. Amber has been one of the most successful unscripted discovery+ Originals, currently the number 1 acquisition driver in the UK as well topping engagement figures and traveling globally across the US, EMEA and our wider international markets.”

Meanwhile, new there are other docs in the “vs.” format in the works at Discovery+. This includes Coleen vs. Rebekah, about the legal battle between soccer wives Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, as well as Britney vs. Jamie, delving into the controversial conservatorship Jamie Spears had over daughter Britney Spears.

Johnny Depp Came Out Ahead in the Defamation Trial

At the end of the trial, the jury awarded Johnny Depp $15 million in damages, determining that Amber Heard had fabricated claims of domestic abuse to intentionally defame Depp. Jurors felt Depp proved all three counts of alleged defamation. Depp did not escape the trial unscathed, as he was found liable for one of three counts of defamation in Heard’s counterclaim and ordered to pay $2 million. The proceedings also put a spotlight on Depp’s drug and alcohol problems, which was not flattering for the actor.

Even so, Depp can be seen as the big winner of the trial. It was Depp’s attorneys who had pushed for the trial to be televised, as Depp says his plan was to get the truth out there and clear his name. After the verdict was read, Depp released a statement announcing that he had found vindication and has called for everyone to move on together after the legal battle.

“To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together,” Depp told followers on social media. “We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”
