With only three movies as a director, Jordan Peele has become quite a legend in Hollywood after the enormous success of his first feature film, Get Out (2017), and the great reception of the following projects, Us (2019) and Nope (2022). And, of course, like any other filmmaker, Peele has his own idols, with Christopher Nolan being one of them.
On a recent chat with Josh Horowitz at the Happy, Sad, Confused Podcast, Jordan declared himself a fan of Nolan’s work and claimed that Oppenheimer, the director’s next film, is his most anticipated release of 2023:
Peele was not the only guest on the podcast, as he was joined by Nope’s cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema who’s currently working on Oppenheimer, and stated he couldn’t say a thing about the upcoming film:
“I don’t work on the film, I don’t have a contract or anything. But all I can say is that I’m so envious that I couldn’t be on the set of this production. The talent is incredible, the images. I’ve seen some that just look beautiful. It is the film that excites me the most this year.”

“We still haven’t agreed on what can and can’t be said, so I guess I’ll just keep my mouth shut.”
What We Know About Oppenheimer So Far
Universal Pictures
“J. Robert Oppenheimer is one of the iconic figures of the 20th century, a brilliant physicist who led efforts to build the atomic bomb for his country during wartime, only to find himself later confronted with the moral consequences of scientific progress. In this masterful and acclaimed biography twenty-five years in the making, Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin capture the life and times of Oppenheimer, from his early career to his pivotal role in the Cold War. This is biography and history at its best, fascinating and deeply informative”, reads the official synopsis of American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the book on which the story is based.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer will arrive in theaters on July 21. The movie stars Cillian Murphy in the leading role alongside Emily Blunt, who will play Kitty Oppenheimer, the protagonist’s wife. They are accompanied by Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Josh Hartnett, Gary Oldman, and Rami Malek, among other great stars.
Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan’s 12th feature film, entering the list with acclaimed titles such as Memento (2000), The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception (2010), and Interstellar (2014).
