Joshua Jackson has boarded the Fatal Attraction reboot series in development at Paramount+. Per Deadline, the Dr. Death star will co-star with Lizzy Caplan (Castle Rock) in a series reimagining of Fatal Attraction, the classic thriller movie that starred Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Jackson and Caplan will be taking on similar roles in the new adaptation.
“Joshua is an incredible talent who creates beautifully complicated characters on both the screen and stage,” said Nicole Clemens, President, Paramount+ Original Scripted Series. “He and Lizzy are perfectly matched to tell a nuanced and modern narrative about the complexities of the human psyche. We’re thrilled to partner with them to bring this provocative and captivating story to a new generation.”

From Paramount Television Studios and Amblin Television, Alexandra Cunningham wrote the new Fatal Attraction using a story co-written with Kevin J. Hynes. Cunningham serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Hynes and Amblin Television presidents Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. The series “explores the timeless themes of marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders and coercive control.” Jackson stars as Dan Gallagher, a married man who has an affair and becomes the object of his lover’s (Caplan) obsession.
Jackson previously starred on popular TV shows like Dawson’s Creek and Fringe. More recently, the actor appeared in Little Fires Everywhere for Hulu and When They See Us for Netflix. These days, fans can catch Jackson as the star of the Peacock series Dr. Death.

It was reported in November that a new Fatal Attraction series was in development with Lizzy Caplan in the lead role. At the time, Clemens noted, “Alexandra brings an incredibly strong and nuanced point of view to a story that became a cultural phenomenon but has thus far only been told from the male gaze. Partnered with Kevin, they will bring the next explosive chapter of this story to a new generation with a balanced eye to the complexities of the human psyche.”
“There’s a very timeless appeal to the themes of fidelity and infidelity, why good people make very dumb, problematic choices, and just marriage and family against those themes of fidelity and infidelity,” David Nevins of Paramount+ told Deadline when Caplan’s casting was announced. “I think the writers have come up with a very smart way to make it very contemporary while also honoring the original. How it’s done for today and how it’s turned into a series is interesting, and it’s interesting for Lizzy’s part in particular.”
Clemens added: “Alexandra brings an incredibly strong and nuanced point of view to a story that became a cultural phenomenon but has thus far only been told from the male gaze. Partnered with Kevin, they will bring the next explosive chapter of this story to a new generation with a balanced eye to the complexities of the human psyche.”
A release date hasn’t yet been set for Fatal Attraction but it will stream exclusively on Paramount+.
