British actor Julian Sands is missing. Last Friday, Sands’ family reported him missing after he was last seen going off for a hike in the Mt. Baldy area of the Southern California mountains. Per ABC7, the 65-year-old is one of two missing hikers in the area as rescuers ramp up their efforts to find the two, though the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department says that inclement weather, icy conditions on rough terrain, and limited air resources have hindered their progress.

The other hiker who’s been reported missing is a man named Bob Gregory who was reported missing on Monday; he’s believed to be in the Crystal Lake area of the San Gabriel Mountains. Family members say that police are trying to track down Gregory by tracing his cell phone usage. It’s unclear if Sands was also carrying a cell phone.

With some excellent range, fans have seen Sands playing many different kinds of characters on the big and small screens. The actor previously spoke about how he picks these roles in an interview with Decider. At the time, he explained how he just simply agrees to what feels right when a new offer comes in, and it’s just happened to take him into many different places.

“When they come in as offers or suggestions, it becomes very apparent what is appropriate and what makes sense, because when you agree to do a role, it sort of feels as if it was meant to be, that it was preordained, that there was an absolute sort of inevitability about it, even though it may appear to be random at the time it comes through the letter box!” he said. “That was a long ramble, but I was trying to say that, as an actor, I don’t have any idea of what’s right for me or what I’m right to do, but when it comes, you know it, and it’s like meeting an old friend.”

Fans worldwide are praying for Sands and sending positive thoughts to the family, hoping for the best. Let’s hope it provides a small sense of comfort until Sands can be found.
