Fans of the Netflix series Julie and the Phantoms have been bummed about its cancelation ever since the news was announced in December, and while there are no plans at this time to make a second season, not all hope is lost. Speaking with Deadline, producer Kenny Ortega confirmed that there is nothing in the works regarding season 2, whether that would be happening at Netflix or somewhere else, should Netflix choose to shop the series. Regardless, Ortega is very proud with the one season that they have.

Julie and the Phantoms was created by Dan Cross and David Hoge, though it was inspired by the Brazilian series Julie e os Fantasmas by Paula Knudsen, Tiago Mello, and Fabio Danesi. The first season was released back in 2020, though it wasn’t revealed until December 2022 that Netflix would not be moving forward with season 2. For the fans feeling disappointed, Ortega does offer a glimmer of hope for a renewal, but he makes it clear that nothing is guaranteed.
