Fans of the short-lived Netflix series Julie and the Phantoms have not yet thrown in the towel on getting the show renewed. Back in 2020, Netflix debuted the first season of the series, which features Madison Reyes in the titular role as a high schooler who starts a band with musical ghosts. Fans spent more than a year awaiting to learn the show’s fate before it was officially canceled in December 2021.
Ever since, fans have banded together with their efforts to save the series. The hope has been that by showing enough fan support, Netflix will renew the show, or another streamer could pick up Julie and the Phantoms for season 2. A petition was launched and the campaign’s efforts have been chronicled at a website created for the movement. The campaign was dubbed “The Orpheum Tour,” which at one point had marquees and billboards across five continents calling for the series to be saved.

Those efforts are still going strong in 2023, and they’ve even been exacerbated once again thanks to a recent appearance from Reyes at a fan convention in Brazil. Madison was present with producer Kenny Ortega along with cast members from Julie e os Fantasmas, the original Brazilian show the series is based on. In images posted to Instagram, Reyes shows herself back in her Julie outfit. She says how it was an honor to put on those clothes for what she presumes will be the last time in Brazil, where the idea for the series came from.
“Felt good to put my jacket back on for one last time before hanging her up,” Reyes says. “Where better to show her off than in BRAZILLLL. Yesterday was the best dayyy so grateful for Dream It Conventions that they made all this happen for us, miss all your amazing faces already.”

Julie and the Phantoms Was Canceled Prematurely
Seeing Reyes back in her Julie outfit only increased the fan desire for the show to get another season. The website launched to save the series offers a new statement detailing the movement and touting what all the campaign has done so far, urging Netflix to bring back the show. Pointed out is a Just Jared poll asking fans which canceled shows should be revived with Julie and the Phantoms ranking in the top 3. It’s also noted that the fan-led petition to revive the series has reached 220,000 signatures.
“Julie and the Phantoms is about believing that you can do anything you put your heart into,” the statement reads.
The first and only season of Julie and the Phantoms can be found streaming on Netflix.
