Jungle Cruise producer Beau Flynn is confident that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt will take to the water once again in a Jungle Cruise 2. Speaking with Collider, Flynn revealed that a sequel to the 2021 hit fantasy adventure is still being pursued, is confident that it will happen, and is excited to further explore the characters Frank Wolff and Dr. Lily Houghton.
“On ‘Jungle Cruise 2’, obviously, it’s something we really want, I think more important than what Hiram and I want, I think is Dwayne and Emily have created such an incredible bond. Their chemistry is extraordinary in the first movie and I know now they know these characters so intimately. I know that they have big ideas of where they can take that universe and world.”

Jungle Cruise was hit hard by the constant delays that came amid the pandemic. Initially scheduled for release back in 2019, Jungle Cruise was moved to 2020 before being postponed further due to the weariness over theatrical releases. This led to Disney announcing that the movie would instead be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a screenplay written by Glenn Ficarra, John Requa, and Michael Green, Jungle Cruise went on to find much financial success despite all the release date drama, grossing over $204 million worldwide, making it the tenth highest-grossing movie of 2021 and raking in $30 million from worldwide Disney+ Premier sales in its opening weekend.
With such success at its back, it’s no wonder that Beau Flynn and Disney are so eager to set sail with Jungle Cruise 2.
