Every movie with its roots in a decades-old franchise usually includes several callbacks and Easter eggs that give returning fans that little extra to look forward to, and the Jurassic World films have certainly delivered that in abundance. From the return to Jurassic Park’s visitors center in Jurassic World to the stance of the T-Rex in the final scenes of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom that mirrored the original Jurassic Park finale, Jurassic World: Dominion is already doing this with a stunning new IMAX poster that adds flesh to the bones of the original Jurassic Park Logo.
In 1993, a poster appeared in cinemas ahead of a new summer blockbuster called Jurassic Park. That poster contained nothing more than a logo featuring a T-Rex skeleton. Having become one of the most iconic and instantly recognized images of modern cinema, Jurassic World: Dominion has now literally brought that image to life by featuring a familiar-looking Rexy framed by a circular opening in the same pose and position as in the original Jurassic Park logo.

So far, the Rex, who has been the unquestionable ambassador of the franchise from the moment she appeared on screen in 1993, has been virtually non-existent in the trailers for the movie. She has only been seen in a clip of the opening scene, which takes place at a drive-in movie theater, so seeing her as a prominent feature of the IMAX poster at least suggests that her role in Dominion is simply being held back for the movie’s release.
Rexy Has Been The Hero and Villain of the Jurassic Park Franchise

When it comes to dinosaurs, the Tyrannosaurus has been the go-to prehistoric beast of choice for many children and adults for decades. Despite the original Jurassic Park introducing many to Velociraptors and the vicious Dilophosaurus and the sequels adding more and more dinosaur breeds to the roster, the one affectionately known as Rexy is still the most popular character of the entire Jurassic franchise.
In Jurassic Park, Rexy was introduced as a fearsome villain, appearing in one of the most intense sequences put on screen in a family movie, but inadvertently turned hero in the finale when she saved Alan Grant, Elle Satler and John Hammond’s grandchildren from the jaws of the Velociraptors. Jurassic World continued the hero-theme for the Rex, with her appearance mostly held back until the movie’s climax when she took on the Indominous Rex in a brutal showdown.
In the opening of Jurassic World: Dominion, Rexy is back to her villainous status, terrorizing families at a drive-in movie as she rampages across the country after being released from captivity at the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Whether she retains this status during the film, or once again proves to be the secret deus ex-machina for the human’s survival is something that we are clearly only going to find out when Jurassic World: Dominion makes its theatrical debut on June 10.
