Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will bring Harrison Ford’s time as the intrepid archaeologist to a close, and the movie seems to be taking the franchise out with an action-packed final adventure. This means plenty of callbacks, returning actors from previous films, and even Nazis. However, one star many fans want to see reprise her role is Karen Allen, who appeared as Marion Ravenwood in Raiders of the Lost Ark and again in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Now the actress has spoken about the possibility of making a third appearance in the franchise.
We already know that as well as Ford’s return as Indy, John Rhys-Davies will also be back in the role of Indy’s old friend, Sallah. Rhys-Davies appears in the trailer for the movie, reminiscing about the past and the “good old days.” But, of course, those good old days included Marion Ravenwood, so it would make sense for the character to come back again for the final chapter of the story. While speaking to Showbiz 411, Allen was asked whether she was coming back to the franchise one more time and said:
Of course, unless a star flat-out denies their involvement in a movie or TV show, fans will take any kind of question-dodging as an admission of being part of the production. Whether this is true or not when it comes to Allen’s possible appearance in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is something fans will have to wait a little longer to find out.
“I could tell you but then I’d have to kill you. Seriously, I can’t say a word.”
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Brings Indy into The Space Age
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
Harrison Ford has played Indiana Jones across five movies, and fans have watched the character traverse decades. This time, the action moves to the 1960s, but some of Indy’s old adversaries are still causing him problems. The synopsis for the movie reads:
There have been plenty of rumors that the movie will involve time-travel, and while Ford has been de-aged for the opening sequence of the film, whether Indy will actually be seen going back in time is not yet known. However, the trailer has made it apparent that the Dial of Destiny could be a reference to a time travel device that both Indy and the Nazis want to get their hands on. However, as seen with the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail, finding the artifact and reaping a benefit from it don’t necessarily go hand in hand for Indy, and that could be the case again this time around.
“In 1969, American archeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones lives against the backdrop of the Space Race. Jones is uneasy over the fact that the U.S. Government recruited former enemies to help beat the Soviet Union in the competition to make it to space. His goddaughter, Helena, accompanies him on his journey. Meanwhile, Voller, a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the moon-landing program, wishes to make the world into a better place as he sees fit.”
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be released on June 30, 2023.
