Since her recent debut in Marvel’s Disney+ series, Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop has been a huge hit with fans. A new rumor has now emerged, which claims she will enter the MCU fray on the big screen in upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Many have expected that Kate Bishop will become a major Marvel mainstay once Hawkeye has wrapped up, and it sounds like the Ant-Man and the Wasp follow-up could be the next step in her MCU future.

Reports have now claimed that Hailee Steinfeld was “recently spotted on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania prior to production wrapping a few weeks ago.” Of course, this being a rumor, it is unknown whether Kate Bishop’s role in proceedings would simply be a cameo, or even an appearance in a post-credits scene (if she’s even in the movie at all), but her playing a part in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania would certainly make sense due to the character’s relationship with Scott Lang’s daughter, Cassie.

Cassie Lang is due to be played by Kathryn Newton in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, with many theorizing that she will take up the mantle of her father and become a superhero all her own. Thus, this rumored appearance from Kate Bishop could suggest that the Ant-Man threequel will set up an all-new superhero team, The Young Avengers, something which both Cassie Lang and Kate Bishop have been a part of in the pages of Marvel Comics. Created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung, The Young Avengers are typically made up of superheroes with connections to The Avengers old guard, and their introduction in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania could spawn a whole new franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Not much is known about the direction of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania other than the fact that Lovecraft Country and Loki star Jonathan Majors will debut as the time-traveling, dimension-hopping villain, Kang the Conqueror. A variant of his Loki character, He Who Remains, Majors recently teased the difference between that character and Kang saying, “He Who Remains is in the world now, and so there’s so much we know about him. There’s 40 minutes of that guy and that narrative, so it really set me up to tell a story and add another canvas, with more players. This time, it’s not the incredible Tom Hiddleston; I’m dealing with Paul Rudd and Evangeline and the likes of the Ant-Man family, so it’s a whole different world and I’m just exploring and trying to do the best I can.”

Directed by Peyton Reed from a screenplay by Jeff Loveness, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, alongside Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne respectively. The sequel is likely to continue to explore the emerging madness of the multiverse, with further rumors suggesting that the villainous MODOK will also be introduced alongside Kang and possibly Kate Bishop.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled to be released in the United States movie theaters on February 17, 2023, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. This comes to us from Midgard Times.
