While everyone might not know her name, audiences have likely seen actress Kate Dickie in one of her many supporting roles. She landed another one in season 2 of the Disney Plus series, Loki, according to a recent report from Deadline. She was cast very quietly, considering the upcoming season already completed filming over a month ago.

While there is no word on her exact role, it’s rumored to be a villainous one. Dickie is no stranger to slightly wicked roles, although she has yet to get the chance to portray the primary villain.

The plot of the next season of Loki is still being kept secret. The studio tries to keep lips sealed, having scolded Owen Wilson for previously leaking some details. However, we do know Loki will continue with time-bending themes and that Jonathan Majors could return as Kang the Conqueror.

Kate Dickie’s Role in The Witch Helped Start Anya Taylor-Joy’s Career

Kate Dickie’s most recognizable role is perhaps Lysa Arryn in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Here, she plays the overbearing mother of the young Robert Arryn, the leader of one of the Seven Kingdoms in the series. It’s a complicated role, despite being a small one. She is supposed to be an ally of her relatives, the Starks, but has succumbed to paranoia and distrust after the unexpected death of her husband — an event that kicks off the entire series. This role helped propel her career as she was successively cast in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Peaky Blinders, The Green Knight, and dozens of other films and TV shows.

One of the movies where Kate Dickie had a significant amount of screen time was The Witch, where she played opposite Anya Taylor-Joy as her paranoid mother. This film kicked off Taylor Joy’s meteoric career, partially thanks to the venomous chemistry between the two actresses. The director and writer of The Witch, Robert Eggers, cast both actresses again in his Viking epic The Northman, although the two do not interact.

Recent movies and shows with Kate Dickie include Summer Camp Island, Inside Man, The Nest, The English Game, Shepherd, Wildfire, and Our Ladies. She began acting in stage productions in the 90s.

Season 2 of Loki casts Tom Hiddleston as the titular character, along with Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, and Kate Dickie. No release date has been given. Created by Michael Waldron, the series will stream on Disney+.
