British supermodel Kate Moss has opened up about getting involved in the Johnny Depp, Amber Heard trial that was watched by millions across the world for six straight weeks. During the trial, Moss had remotely testified via video link to address her name coming up in testimony provided by Heard. Heard claimed to have heard a rumor that Depp had pushed Moss down a staircase during their relationship in the 1990s.

The appearance of Moss in the trial was rather brief. She directly addressed the “rumor” that she’d been attacked by Depp and described a situation that was quite the opposite. Moss said she had once taken a fall outside and that Depp had immediately come to her aid, carrying her to their hotel room and calling for medical assistance. She also testified that Depp had never pushed, kicked, or threw her down any stairs.

Now, Moss has offered her thoughts about getting involved with the trial. Speaking with BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs (via Entertainment Weekly), Moss explained that she believes in “the truth” and felt compelled to set the record straight when it was alleged that Depp had attacked her during their relationship. She also referenced her friend, fashion designer John Galliano, who sparked controversy at a bar in Paris while speaking about the defamation trial.

Kate Moss was one of the multiple exes of Johnny Depp to come to his defense amid the allegations that he had violently abused Amber Heard. In the previous lawsuit that had been filed against News Group Newspapers in the UK, Winona Ryder submitted a statement speaking to her own experiences with Depp and insisting that he had never been violent with her in any way.

“I understand that it is very important that I speak from my own experience, as I obviously was not there during his marriage to Amber, but, from my experience, which was so wildly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the accusations against him," Ryder wrote. “The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations. He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen.”

Vanessa Paradis, who was married to Depp for 14 years and had two children with him, also defended him. She said, “This is nothing like the true Johnny I have known, and from my personal experience of many years, I can say he was never violent or abusive to me. I have seen that these outrageous statements have been really distressing, and also caused damage to his career because unfortunately people have gone on believing these false facts. This is so upsetting as he has helped so many persons in his personal and professional life, with kindness and generosity.”
