Much like the first film, the upcoming sequel Knives Out 2 will star Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc alongside a strong ensemble cast. While not much has been revealed about the new film in terms of its plot, the cast alone will make Knives Out 2 a must-watch movie when it is released on Netflix. Among the cast members is WandaVision standout Kathryn Hahn, who describes the love shared among the cast as reminiscent of her days spent at Yale.
“It took me back to my roots because it really did feel like an old school ensemble,” Hahn says in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It really felt a lot like my class at Yale. I had the same kind of fond feelings of love and tenderness towards everybody.”

As noted, Hahn is one of many cast members featured in Knives Out 2’s ensemble cast. Along with Hahn and Daniel Craig returning as Benoit Blanc, the film stars Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick, and Ethan Hawke.
Rian Johnson wrote and directed the sequel. It features Benoit Blanc, but it is considered a standalone film with no other major connections to the first movie beyond bringing back the main character. While no plot details have been revealed, we can presume it will introduce a new mystery for the detective to solve.
Dave Bautista Also Praised the Sequel’s Ensemble Cast
Netflix
Dave Bautista, another major player in Knives Out 2, had some high praise for the sequel. The actor previously spoke with People about the movie and teased that it will be better than the acclaimed original. According to Bautista, a big reason for that has to do with its new ensemble cast, which he describes as “much more colorful” this time around.
“I really think it’s going to be as good, if not better, than the first one,” Bautista said. “I’m always afraid to say that because I don’t want anybody to get offended saying that we’re going to be better, but I really do think this. I think the characters are just so much more colorful. I think people are really going to dig this. The characters are just so great. They’re so different. Everybody’s cast so well. I was working with a couple of my castmates and was mesmerized by their performances and just how well they’ve adapted into these characters. I think the characters in this are even more quirky than the first one.”
Knives Out 2 does not yet have an official release date set, but the film will be hitting Netflix sometime in 2022. The first footage of the sequel was revealed in a video ad promoting many of the big releases coming to the streaming service this year, and though the Knives Out 2 footage was brief, it does include a peek of Daniel Craig’s return along with our first look at some of the other cast members.
