After earning his first nomination for an Academy Award, actor Ke Huy Quan is having one of the happiest days of his life. Over the past year, Quan and the rest of the Everything Everywhere All at Once family have been enjoying immense praise and accolades. That continues with the movie garnering a whopping 11 nominations at the Oscars this year, after getting plenty of recognition at other prestigious awards shows as well.
Among those nominated for the film is Quan, who’s up for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Waymond Wang, husband to Michelle Yeoh’s Evelyn Wang. It’s nothing short of a dream come true for the former child star, who had stepped away from acting for many years before a recent comeback. Speaking about the nomination with THR, Quan addressed how he never thought he’d be attending the Academy Awards, and filled with happiness, he describes today as an “incredible day.”

Quan was hoping for the best with the film, also revealing that he’d gotten up early to join a Zoom call with others from the film to watch the nomination announcement together. He says the group would cheer every single time a new nomination was announced, and it didn’t seem to stop until there were 11 that had been named. That’s more than any other film at the Oscars, and Quan feels “happy” and “grateful” for the entire family.
Whether Quan goes on to win the Oscar remains to be seen, but as it stands, he couldn’t be more thrilled just to get the nomination. We’ll find out who wins when the event goes down on March 12, 2023.
