Lionsgate continues to tease the release of John Wick: Chapter 4 with the unveiling of a new image from the film. The photo comes included in a new article at Entertainment Weekly teasing some of the biggest movie releases coming in 2023, with the entry of John Wick: Chapter 4 featuring an all-new image from the film. The photo shows Keanu Reeves going on the offensive with a pair of nunchucks while an armed gunman, who’s likely about to lose his life, ventures toward the deadly assassin.

We shouldn’t expect for there to be any less action in the anticipated sequel. Reeves recently referred to John Wick: Chapter 4 as the “hardest movie” he’s ever made in terms of action, which may have taken a toll on the actor, but should make for some entertaining viewing for the filmgoers. Director Chad Stahelski has also teased that while John Wick may be finally coming to terms with how his violent actions affect others, it won’t necessarily stop him from racking up the body count.

“In John Wick 4, I would say, John comes to terms with how what he does affects people that he cares about,” Stahelski told Empire. “There’s always got to be consequences for your actions. And in this, we’re starting to see that John understands what the consequences are. Not that it curbs him in any way.”

John Wick: Chapter 4 Continues the Assassin’s Journey

The John Wick franchise is still going strong four chapters in, and there are no signs of this franchise slowing down anytime soon. Originally, the plan was for John Wick 5 to shoot back-to-back with the fourth film, but the pandemic ultimately affected those plans, postponing the fifth movie (for now). The franchise also continues to expand with the first spinoff, the Ana de Armas-led film Ballerina, now in development. There is also a planned prequel series in the works at Peacock dubbed The Continental that will go back decades before the events of the movies to further explore the lore of the John Wick universe.

Chad Stahelski directs John Wick: Chapter 4 using a screenplay by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. The sequel brings back some other characters from the prior films as well, with cast members alongside Keanu Reeves including a returning Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick. Newcomers to the cast include Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, Shamier Anderson, and Rina Sawayama.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be released in movie theaters on March 24, 2023.
