Action superstar and beloved actor Keanu Reeves has his heart set on joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the flaming skull-sporting avenging angel, Ghost Rider. Appearing recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Reeves was asked whether he has ever wanted to play a Marvel character, to which the John Wick star quickly replied…

Keanu Reeves as Ghost Rider is something that Marvel fans have been crying out for for some time, with the star of The Matrix and John Wick franchises, and real-life lover of all things motorcycle, seemingly making the actor the perfect choice to bring the antihero character to life on the big screen.

“10-year-old me would want to — I think he’d probably want to be Ghost Rider.”

While Reeves has yet to join the MCU, the actor has confirmed meetings with Marvel Studios. Though they have yet to find the right role. “We haven’t yet. We have met, and [Kevin Feige]’s a cool cat. Yeah. But no, we don’t have anything, got to find something,” Reeves said in December last year.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is just as eager to add Keanu Reeves to the MCU roster, revealing back in 2019 that “We talk to him for almost every film we make… We talk to Keanu Reeves about… I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

Ghost Rider has of course been portrayed on the big screen before, by the wild-eyed Nicolas Cage no less. The last time audiences saw Ghost Rider in theaters was in 2011’s poorly received Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, starring Cage as the titular antihero. On the small screen, a version of the Ghost Rider has already been introduced to the world of Marvel in the form of Roberto “Robbie” Reyes in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and while Reyes was well-received, the show itself has since been removed from canon, leading many to feel that this could perfectly pave the way for Johnny Blaze to burst back onto the scene.

And burst back on to the screen he (sort of) has, with Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law hinting that the existence of Johnny Blaze in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.
