During the Los Angeles premiere of Jordan Peele’s Nope, Keke Palmer discussed her experience on Being Mortal. Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, starring Palmer, Seth Rogen, Bill Murray and Ansari, was shut down due to a complaint made against Murray in April. Palmer told Deadline:

The stars of Being Mortal have all remained tight-lipped on the source of the complaints, with Murray talking to CNBC, back in April, shortly after production halted.

“I had a wonderful time filming. Aziz Ansari is one of the coolest people that I ever met. That was the coolest experience, but I don’t know anything more than that.”

Being Mortal is a film adaptation of Atul Gawande’s nonfiction book Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End. The film was on schedule for release in 2023, but production was indefinitely suspended, with just half of filming completed. It is unknown if production will continue.

“I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn’t taken that way,” Murray said. “The company, the movie studio, wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it, and so they stopped the production. But as of now, we’re talking and we’re trying to make peace with each other. I think that’s where the real issue is, between our peace. We’re both professionals. We like each other’s work. We like each other, I think, and if you can’t really get along and trust each other, there’s no point in going further working together or making a movie as well.”

This is not the first incident involving Murray. During Charlie’s Angels filming, Murray and Lucy Liu shared a negative working relationship after Murray insulted Liu and said she could not act. After Murray replaced Chevy Chase on Saturday Night Live, the two got into a physical fight after Murray allegedly told Chase that everyone hated him.

Palmer attended the Nope premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. Nope stars Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya, Steven Yeun, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, Wrenn Schmidt and Keith David. Peele and Ian Cooper produced for Monkeypaw Productions, with Robert Graf serving as its executive producer.

It is Jordan Peele’s third film, following the successful horror films Get Out and Us. Nope follows a group of California residents who make a chilling discovery. While little is known about Nope, which hits theaters this Friday, Peele recently said the film explores “the insidious nature of attention.”

After last night’s Los Angeles premiere, Nope is already gaining positive attention.
