If there is one thing guaranteed to capture the attention of social media, it is an unexpected appearance by Kevin Bacon. After many rumors of the ever-popular actor’s MCU debut as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the release of the first trailer for next months’ Disney+ special presentation from Marvel Studios has taken the internet by storm by revealing that part of the plot revolves around Drax and Mantis attempting to kidnap Kevin Bacon, who is played by…well, Kevin Bacon.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on November 25, and until now there has been little known about the plot of the one-shot bridge to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which will hit cinemas next summer. With the arrival of the first trailer for the Marvel Special Presentation, we now know that there will be plenty of Christmassy feels about the festive offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as a whole load of Kevin Bacon action.

While many believed that Bacon would be joining the MCU as a new character, it seems that he will simply be playing a fictional version of himself, and will be involved in a kidnap plot as Mantis (Pom Klemtieff) and Drax (Dave Bautista) set off steal away the much-loved star to ensure Star Lord (Chris Pratt) doesn’t have the Christmas blues as he continues to focus on the loss of Gamora during Avengers: Infinity War. Of course this plays into a running gag of the Guardians movies which saw Star Lord referencing Bacon as “the greatest hero on Earth.” You can check out the trailer below.
Kevin Bacon in the MCU Has Grabbed Twitter’s Attention
The arrival of Kevin Bacon in anything is usually enough to see the actor trending on Twitter, and the Guardians Holiday Special trailer has done just that. While there are a handful of people who don’t seem to care one way or the other about the special presentation, many of those who do had plenty to shout about after Bacon’s inclusion was officially announced. Check out some of the comments below.
Kevin Bacon has been a vocal fan of his constant name referencing in the MCU. While Bacon has previously appeared in the Marvel movie X-Men: First Class as villain Sebastian Shaw, and has been referenced many times in the MCU, including during a Footloose conversation between Iron Man, Spider-Man and the Guardians in Avengers: Infinity War, his Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special appearance is his first time in the MCU. Previously, Bacon said of the franchise’s frequent use of his name:
With only a month until the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special arrives on Disney+, Guardians and Kevin Bacon fans have only short time to wait to see his strutting his stuff as part of the MCU. Hopefully, Bacon’s appearance could also finally pay-off the 2020 tweet in which Chris Pratt had to turn down a dance off against actor, after conceding he we would lose. Maybe we get to see some of those Footloose movies creeping in there somewhere when the special drops on November 25.
“When I saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I went to see it having no idea that I was discussed. It was an afternoon in New York, I was on 67th Street and went by myself, as I often do. I was like, ‘Holy shit. They’re talking about me. Are you guys getting this?’”
