Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed that Marvel Studios will be heading back to San Diego Comic-Con this year for the first time since 2019. According to Collider, the Marvel Universe panel will once again be held in Hall H on Saturday, July 23, 2022, and will include a big announcement during the event.

Feige’s confirmation that Marvel Studios will be at this year’s SDCC was made during a press conference for the upcoming Thor: Love & Thunder, arriving in theaters on July 8, 2022. During the press conference, Feige told reporters:

Marvel Studios hasn’t been on stage at SDCC’s Hall H since 2019 when the studio revealed the first draft of their Phase Four slate (some things have changed since then due to COVID-19’s impact). The Phase Four slate of content included Disney+ series like WandaVision, Loki, Captain America and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and What If…? and several feature films like Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the previously mentioned Love & Thunder.

“We’ll be at Comic-Con next month, which we’re excited about. First time since we were on stage there three years ago talking about this movie and many others. And now, I think, almost, not everything but almost everything we discussed three years ago, that was released, so we are excited to go and talk about the future.”

As Feige pointed out in his statement to the press, by the time SDCC happens in July, Marvel will have released all of its Phase Four content. So the upcoming panel can either be about changes to Phase Five, which includes She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, or news on possible Phase Six plans. Or could it be something entirely different?

Collider’s Steven Weintraub confirmed in a tweet the date and time of the Marvel panel and added an addition piece of information about the studio’s attendance, saying, “Heard they were going big and then heard they’re just bringing one movie. If it’s one movie I’ll wager it’s #BlackPantherWakandaForever. Not sure what they actually decided.” With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever six months away from release, and speculation about the plot of the film is growing, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Weintraub was correct.

San Diego Comic-Con will be held between Wednesday, July 20 to Sunday, July 24 with the Marvel Studios panel being held in Hall H on Saturday, July 23.
