Elizabeth Olsen and her character, Wanda Maximoff, has been a fan favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years. She’s undergone quite the transformation throughout the franchise, becoming a powerful hero and part of the Avengers before serving as the primary antagonist in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earlier this summer.
When we last left her character, Wanda was seemingly crushed underneath a collapsed castle after sacrificing herself to destroy the Darkhold. But, of course, this is Marvel, and this is the multiverse; anything becomes possible when you combine the two. During an interview with Variety, Olsen and Kevin Feige spoke on the Scarlet Witch character as she’s come to be known, and the President of Marvel Studios teases the future and fate of her character.

What’s Next for Wanda?

Fans have been begging for a solo Scarlet Witch movie for years, and the idea is still on the table despite an official announcement from Marvel. Wanda Maximoff is one of the most popular characters in the MCU. Although she received her own Disney+ series, a feature film centered around the character outside of Doctor Strange could be a huge box office success.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is set to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2023, and Wanda could certainly make an appearance in the series. Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, was first introduced in WandaVision as one of the lead antagonists, and it would make sense for Maximoff to reunite with the character. But, for now, Olsen is keeping quiet on her future, saying, “I really, genuinely feel like my job is to keep my mouth shut until [Kevin Feige] makes an announcement of any kind.” She adds that she isn’t sure which direction her character will take. “I really don’t know my future. There’s nothing that has been agreed on,” she says. Fans patiently await the Scarlet Witch’s return, and Feige plans on keeping the character, and Olsen, around as long as he can.
