James Gunn has unveiled some names for the first chapter of his new DC Universe. Featuring adaptations of stories like Superman: Legacy, The Brave and the Bold, and Paradise Lost, the new DCU will be an amalgamation of content spread across films, television, and animation. And that supposedly begins with The Flash. In his DC Studios presentation, Gunn claimed that The Flash would reset the entire timeline, making it one of the greatest superhero films of all time. Gunn praised Andy Muschietti’s much-awaited and much-troubled DCU entry and seemed optimistic about its response from fans.

Now, Kiersey Clemons has reacted to Gunn’s praise for The Flash, echoing similar emotions and feelings for the film she plays the lead in. Clemons will star alongside Ezra Miller in The Flash as Iris West, a Central City journalist and Barry Allen’s love interest. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clemons reiterated Gunn’s “greatest superhero film” remark for her next venture and talked about her experience on the film’s sets.

Reacting to Gunn’s comments, Clemons stated,

Adding further praise for the film and her co-actor Ezra Miller, Clemons said,

I did [hear Gunn’s compliments], and he said very nice things.

Clemons was hinting at the headlines that engulfed Ezra Miller in some serious allegations and police investigations after several of their misdeeds became public last year. That included incidents of assault, battery, and possible kidnappings that Ezra was directly involved in, leading the studio even to consider canceling The Flash altogether. Lucky for the fans, the film is still moving ahead with a June 2023 release date. Whether Ezra Miller will have a future in Gunn’s Gods & Monsters chapter of DC Universe is still a big question, but The Flash certainly plays a significant role in changing the course for the DCU.

I had a great time. I’ve known Ezra for years, and I loved working with Andy. Despite everything, we had a really great time filming, and we did make a really great movie. I hope that despite [all the headlines], people really enjoy the movie because what James said is true. I believe what he said, and I think it’s absolutely correct.

Clemons Is Aware of and Hurt by Headlines About Miller

Kiersey Clemons also talked about the news about Miller’s condition and the headlines concerning their illegal activities. She said,

Recently, after being given three options regarding the status of The Flash, Ezra Miller agreed to undergo therapy for effective recovery in their mental health. DC Studios co-head Peter Safran has extended support to Miller, which may mean that Miller’s future as the Central City speedster in the DCU remains content.

“What people forget is that a lot of people go through that, but they don’t do it with the whole world watching. Although it comes with the territory, it’s really unfair and has been hard watching that.”

Is The Flash one of the greatest superhero films of all time? Time will tell soon when The Flash releases on June 16. But it will be a significant entry into the DCU, for it’s the key to the beginning of DCU: Gods and Monsters. What’s more critical to witness now is how the film’s business and audience’s response are affected by Miller’s controversial doings still hanging around the studio’s rapport.
