The game is afoot in the latest image from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which offers our first look at the star-studded cast that will be interrogated by Daniel Craig’s super sleuth Benoit Blanc. Released courtesy of the official Netflix Twitter account, this first look at the sequel to the 2019 whodunnit hit Knives Out also comes with a release date as it is revealed that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will land on Netflix on December 23. You can check out the new image from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery below.

The first look image finds Daniel Craig reprising the role of Benoit Blanc and standing at the head of a table that includes such A-listers and suspected murderers as Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista. For clarity, it’s their characters who are suspected murderers, not the actors themselves. Sat at a long dining table in a grand room filled with columns and other such opulence, it looks like Blanc is up to his old tricks once again as he attempts to solve another mysterious murder.

Released to theaters in 2019 and directed by Rian Johnson, the first Knives Out introduces audiences to Daniel Craig as private detective Benoit Blanc. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer, Knives Out follows the master detective as he is called in to investigate the death of the patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family.

Knives Out was both a box office and critical hit, with many loving the return to an old-school Agatha Christie-style murder mystery. Off the back of such success, Netflix paid $469 million for the rights to two sequels written and directed by Rian Johnson, with Daniel Craig set to reprise his role in both.

Both Daniel Craig & Dave Bautista Have Called Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Better Than the First

While not much is yet known about the plot of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Daniel Craig has already gotten the hype train chugging, cautiously calling Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery better than the first outing. “We’ve just finished the second one, literally weeks ago. They’ve just wrapped up in Serbia. Dare I say it’s better? We’ll see,” the actor said. “I don’t want to tempt fate. It’s different, and that’s the amazing thing. It’s still a Benoit Blanc mystery, but it’s very different. I’m very excited about it.”

Dave Bautista was next to add to the hype, echoing many of Craig’s sentiments. “I really think it’s going to be as good, if not better, than the first one. I’m always afraid to say that because I don’t want anybody to get offended saying that we’re going to be better, but I really do think this,” he said.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, and Ethan Hawke, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and will be released on Netflix on December 23.
