Sony’s expanding universe of Spider-Man characters is clearly getting a boost from the inclusion of many Sony based characters in Marvel’s latest adventure, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and one of the upcoming characters that was very briefly hinted at in the movie was Kraven The Hunter, one of the new spin-off movies coming in the wake of the likes of Morbius and any future Venom movies. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role, the Kraven The Hunter movie is apparently now all set to get cameras rolling in the coming month.
News of the expected filming start date for the movie comes from Murphy’s Multiverse, one of the more accurate sources of information when it comes to the world of Marvel. The report states, “Production start dates have always been tentative and now, more than ever, it’s important to keep that in mind, but assuming no delays, it sounds like Kraven the Hunter will begin production in the UK next month. Given the film’s January 2023 release date, it’s a very sensible timeline for principal photography, leaving plenty of time for any additional photography, which is always factored into these projects."
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Spider-Man: No Way Home has managed to crack open the Sony universe in a brand new way. Where previously the world that was inhabited by Venom was literally a world away from the Spider-Man movies based in the MCU, however, the arrival of the multiverse seems to have changed that, making new things possible that were previously nothing more than fan fantasies. There are now rumors of Tom Holland appearing in future Venom movies, or potentially Andrew Garfield being the Spider-Man that has not yet been seen in that universe but by the Morbius trailer does exist somewhere.
Kraven The Hunter Is The Most Likely Movie To Fully Introduce Spider-Man Into Sony’s Universe
Kraven The Hunter is best known in the comics as a mercenary who relentlessly chases down Spider-Man and other characters, and therefore it stands to reason that a Spider-Man would feature in any movie that the character appears in. The character was originally planned to be the big villain of Tom Holland’s third outing as the web-slinger, but those plans changed and Spider-Man: No Way Home became an entirely different movie to what was originally expected. So now the question is not will Spider-Man appear in the movie, but who will be playing him?
Since Andrew Garfield made a return to the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, there has been a phenomenal surge in appreciation of his version of the hero, with calls for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to finally be made, rumors that he will be now appearing in Morbius, and the actor himself saying that he would not be against teaming up with Tom Holland again in future or returning as Spider-Man in another capacity. However, known how much Garfield was eager to deny his Spider-Man: No Way Home appearance, even when the movie had arrived in cinemas, it is unlikely he will be spilling the beans on what the future could hold anytime soon in regards to that.
If Kraven the Hunter is heading into full production within the next month, then it shouldn’t be too long before we have more specific details about the movie, of which currently there are very few in terms of either plot or cast. There have been rumors last year that Jodie Turner-Smith could be appearing as Calypso in the film, and that there could be other Sony Spider-Man characters also turning up, such as Michael Keaton’s Vulture, Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius, but all of that is just speculation until the moment it isn’t.
