Former child star Lance Kerwin has passed away. The actor, who first rose to fame in the 1970s, had his death announced by his daughter, Savanah Kerwin, with an emotional post on Facebook. A cause of death wasn’t revealed for Kerwin, though it was shared that the James at 15 star has died in San Clemente, California. He was 62 years old.
The post reads, “Hello everyone. I am so sorry to those we have not been able to reach out to personally to notify but Lance Kerwin passed away yesterday morning. We appreciate all the kind words, memories, and prayers that have been shared. As the coming weeks progress, I will share more information about after life ceremonies. He loved each and every one of you.”

Appearing in various TV movies and shows in the 1970s, Kerwin landed one of his most famous roles when he was cast as the titular teenager in the late 70s series James at 15. Soon after, he would appear in the TV movie adaptation of the Stephen King story Salem’s Lot, another one of his most well-known roles. In the horror story, Kerwin’s character is visited by a floating vampire outside of his window in one of the genre’s most memorable moments in history.

Other TV shows that the actor has apepared in include Emergency!, Little House on the Prairie, Shazam!, Gunsmoke, Sara, Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman, Trapper John, MD, and Murder, She Wrote. He has also appeared in some different films such as Escape to Witch Mountain, Cheering Section, Enemy Mine, and Outbreak. Kerwin was also frequently playing characters in the classic ABC Afterschool Specials in the 1970s.
After some sporadic acting appearances in the 1990s, Kerwin would officially retire to embark on a new career as a youth minister. However, he recently made a sudden return to acting with a role in the Hawaiian film The Wind & the Reckoning, which held its world premiere in Boston last fall and is making the rounds in the festival circuit.
