After being cast as the Man of Steel, Henry Cavill has gone on to become one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. He has been the subject of many fancasts, especially with many wanting Cavill as the next James Bond. While Cavill has been most recognized for playing Superman, he has also won over the hearts of fans as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series. That is a role Cavill has since left behind, but he has continued to play Sherlock in Netflix’s Enola Holmes films....

The brain-twisting sci-fi videogame Death Stranding is getting a film adaptation, although few details have been revealed so far. However, the creative lead for the game, Hideo Kojima, recently gave an interview with IGN where he revealed his intentions for the movie and explained his choice of producer: Alex Lebovici is known for producing Bill and Ted Face the Music, Padre Pio, and Barbarian, the latter of which received rave reviews....

July 1993 marked the release of Hocus Pocus, directed by Kenny Ortega and starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. The film introduces a trio of witches named Sanderson: Winnie, Sarah, and Mary, executed in 1693 for murdering two children. Determined to return, the witches cast a spell and, in 1993, they were brought back to Salem by a teenager’s mistake. As popular as this film is today, having turned into a Halloween classic, it is hard to believe that, upon its release, Hocus Pocus was an absolute box office flop....

Oscilloscope Laboratories announced today that it has acquired U.S. distribution rights to 2-time Academy Award winning director Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s first dramatic narrative Howl. Starring James Franco in a career-defining performance as Allen Ginsberg, Howl is the story of how the young poet’s seminal work broke down societal barriers in the face of an infamous public obscenity trial. Howl was the opening night film at Sundance Film Festival 2010 and also played in competition at 2010 Berlinale....

Hulu’s highly anticipated upcoming (8-episode) limited series, Little Fires Everywhere, announces additional series regulars: Jade Pettyjohn, Jordan Elsass, Gavin Lewis, Megan Stott and Lexi Underwood. This teen cast joins previously announced series regulars and executive producers, Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, as well as Rosemarie DeWitt. Based on Celeste Ng’s 2017 bestseller, Little Fires Everywhere follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives....

It was announced back in August 2021 that Lionsgate confirmed that a new Hunger Games movie based on the novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was all set to go into full production early in 2022. It looks like that has proven to be accurate as a report by The Illuminerdi has revealed the film will be shot under the working title of Butterfly and is seemingly sticking to its plan of shooting soon....

Director James C. Strouse has set his next feature. It’s All Coming Back to Me, a new romantic drama, is set to hit theaters early next year. Strouse made his directorial debut with 2007’s Grace is Gone starring John Cusack. He followed this up with the Sam Rockwell-led 2009 sports comedy The Winning Season. 2015’s People Places Things gave the director his second comedic feature, this time starring Jemaine Clement, followed by 2017’s comedy The Incredible Jessica James starring Jessica Williams....

Sad news for all of you Corey/Corey fans. Moviehole.net is reporting that Corey Haim is no longer involved in the upcoming direct-to-DVD sequel The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe. Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander, aka The Frog Brothers, will still be bringing their wooden stakes to the party, though. So don’t fret. Actress Moneca Delain has joined the cast of this P.J. directed follow-up, which follows a new group of vampires in Luna Bay, California....

James Franco has purchased the rights to Stephen Elliott’s strange murder mystery memoir The Adderall Diaries. According to Deadline, the actor, who is garnering Oscar buzz for his performance in this fall’s 127 Hours, plans to star in, produce, and direct the project. The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir of Moods, Masochism, and Murder, follows the murder trail of Hans Reiser, a programmer accused of killing his wife. Not long into the trial, the defendant’s friend Sean Sturgeon decided to confess to a number of murders, though none of them being Reiser’s wife....

When it comes to new Marvel Studios releases, the first thing everyone wants to know is where it fits in the MCU timeline. Sometimes, there is a definite answer, and in others, like in the case of new animated shorts series I Am Groot, there isn’t. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has added his comments about where the series fits in relation to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and the rest of the MCU, and effectively, it doesn’t....

When Marvel Studios released Iron Man in 2008, no one had any idea where it would end up leading, including many of those who starred in the movie. One of those who appeared in that first MCU movie was Jeff Bridges, who played villain Obadiah Stane, and recently the Oscar-winner reminisced about his time working on the film, calling it a “wonderful experience” but also one that drove him “absolutely crazy” thanks to the many script re-writes and last minute changes....

Jeffrey Tambor has joined CBS’ comedy pilot The Captain. The show centers on a young writer (Fran Kranz) who moves into a legendary Hollywood apartment building; The Hollywood Reporter says Tambor will play a retired TV writer who lives in the building. Michelle Trachtenberg is set as the female lead in ABC’s untitled D.C. comedy soap pilot; from WBTV, it’s about an aide (Eric Christian Olsen) to a Democratic senator who falls for the daughter (Trachtenberg) of his boss’ archnemesis....

John Wick fans have had a long wait for the fourth installment in the franchise to finally arrive and with the film still almost a year away the wait is not over yet. However, while it looked like two John Wick movies would be coming when the sequels were announced in 2019, there will now be just John Wick 4, which it has been hinted could well be the conclusion of the franchise as far as the movies are concerned....

Kevin Hart had some things to say about what happened to his friend and fellow comedian Dave Chappelle at the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival. While Chappelle was performing on the stage, a 23-year-old man emerged from the crowd and tackled the comic to the ground. Security quickly intervened and removed the attacker who was removed from the building and arrested by police. Before he was booked, however, the man was left battered, bruised, and swollen by security, as seen in images shared on social media....

Kim Raver, who played Audrey Raines on 24 for three seasons, is in negotiations to return for the Fox limited series 24: Live Another Day. Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub have already signed on to reprise their roles as CTU agent Jack Bauer and CTU systems analyst Chloe O’Brian. Audrey Raines was Jack Bauer’s inter-agency liasson (and lover) between the CTU and the Department of Defense from Season 4 through Season 6....

Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton has now provided a promising update on the state of the long-awaited sequel in the action spy franchise, Kingsman 3. Appearing on the Sirius XM show The Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham, Egerton revealed that Kingsman 3 is nearing production, with the actor claiming that the project will begin filming in 2023 — though he is quick to advise fans not to take his word as gospel…...

Earlier this week, we brought you a story about how Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky was now in the running to possibly direct the Christopher Nolan produced Superman. That news added the director’s name to an already impressive list of filmmakers that we had mentioned the week before were being considered by The Dark Knight director to helm the new franchise.
