The second season of How I Met Your Father has been given a premiere date. Hulu has announced that the show’s second season will be premiering on the streaming platform on January 24, 2023. Starring Hilary Duff, the How I Met Your Mother spinoff series debuted on Hulu in January 2022, concluding its 10-episode first season in March. Season 2 will run twice as long as it was given a 20-episode order with its renewal....
The first official poster has been released for I Am Groot. In the poster, Groot can be seen taking it easy while an included premiere date states that the series will arrive on Disney+ on Aug. 10, 2022. In a move designed to increase the reach of independent cinema, IFC Entertainment, one of the leading distributors of independent and foreign films, and Netflix, the world’s largest online movie rental service, today announced a partnership that gives Netflix U.S. rights to 53 unique titles from IFC Entertainment. Through this agreement select titles from IFC Entertainment’s eclectic library of independent films will become available to be streamed instantly to televisions and computers via the Netflix service....

The final battle between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers has taken its toll on actress Jamie Lee Curtis. The third installment of a new trilogy of Halloween movies at Blumhouse, Halloween Ends brings back Curtis for what’s said to be her final performance as Laurie, the character she first started playing in John Carpenter’s original movie released in 1978. Fox is officially bringing back Joe Millionaire. The reality dating show that first premiered on the network in 2003 is getting a fresh reboot under the name Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer. Due to the WGA strike, production has been pushed back on George Miller’s Justice League of Americafilm, which has affected the jobs of numerous individuals in the film industry. U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan dismissed one of the legal claims against Kevin Spacey in the $40 million trial against the actor today, the Associated Press reports. Judge Kaplan threw out the claim of intentional infliction of emotional distress, stating that elements duplicated accuser Anthony Rapp’s other claim of sexual assault and battery. The trial will move forward with the assault and battery claim that stems from an alleged incident that took place in 1986 while Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26....

Paramount Pictures has released a new featurette for Scream highlighting the return of Ghostface. While the true identity of the masked slasher has changed with every installment of the series, the “Ghostface” character is always easily identifiable by that distinct voice, explained in the story as a high-quality voice changer, along with that unique mask. We reported back in April that a new writer had come aboard a long-gestating project and now it seems they’re also moving forward with a new director. Variety is reporting that Gore Verbinski has signed on to direct The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Verbinski will be directing from a script by Steve Conrad, who previously wrote The Weather Man, which Verbinski directed. It was said that the film could start shooting as early as next spring....
Four-time Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee Hal Holbrook has signed up for a guest starring role on the upcoming third season of FX’s critically acclaimed hit drama series Sons of Anarchy. Holbrook will appear in a four-episode arc, beginning with the third season premiere episode, which debuts in September.
