Spoiler Alert: Possible Minor Spoilers Ahead for House of the Dragon Season 2 2022 was an excellent year for Game of Thrones. Despite the enormous criticism received after the end of the series, the arrival of House of the Dragon, the first spin-off of the show, revived the love of fans for the universe of George R. R. Martin, breaking viewing records for HBO and its streaming platform. As expected after its great performance, the network quickly renewed the series for a second season, which will continue to delve into the history of the Targaryen House, its rise to power in Westeros, and its subsequent fallout, which would almost lead to its end, until the arrival of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen....

The Indiana Jones franchise is one of the most beloved franchises in movie history. The story of its creation is quite something. Director Steven Spielberg wanted to direct a James Bond movie, but was told by George Lucas, “I have something better than Bond.” As a result, one of the best action heroes of all time, Indiana Jones, was born. Our intrepid archeologist gets quite a few stamps on his passport as he travels across the globe, trying to keep rare artifacts out of the hands of some really nasty people....

It was a slow Labor Day weekend at the box office, however, Invincible hung onto first place. It beat out newcomers Crank and The Wicker Man to regain the top spot with $15.2 million; that brings the two week total to $34.7 million. Invincible is the true story of Vince Papale, a 30-year-old bartender who played for the Philadelphia Eagles, starring Mark Wahlberg and Greg Kinnear. Audiences did get Cranked for Jason Statham and Amy Smart; the Lionsgate action flick came in second and took in $13 million over the four-day weekend....

While at the Never Back Down junket, Djimon Hounsou revealed that he has signed to star in his “dream project” - a comic book trilogy. The only catch, according to the report from IESB is that Hounsou wouldn’t reveal which one. The immediate suspicion is that Hounsou will be playing the role of Marvel’s Black Panther. A little over a year ago, Kevin Feige, president of production for Marvel Studios said here that a Black Panther film was in development....

As one of the longest-running movie franchises of all-time, James Bond has gone through seven actors portraying the dashing MI6 spy. 2021’s No Time To Die marks the last outing as the character by Daniel Craig, who was often praised as being the closest actor to portray Bond as was originally written (per BBC). Now, the hunt is on for the next 007 — and it’s going to be no easy ordeal....

James Franco has signed on to star in the indie drama In Praise of Shadows, written and directed by Jay Anania. According to Variety, Anania is head of the directing program at the graduate film school at NYU, where Franco just completed his first year, while simultaneously completing his master’s degree in English at Columbia University. The drama tells the story of William Vincent (Franco), and recounts his eccentric and curious journey that brought him back to New York City after four years in exile to rescue the woman he loves from a crime syndicate....

Showtime’s Masters of Horror has firmed up the list of guest stars for the anthology series’ upcoming second season that includes such names as Jason Priestley, Elliott Gould and Christopher Lloyd, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, the series has added directors Peter Medak, Rob Schmidt, Norio Tsuruta, Brad Anderson, Ernest Dickerson and Todd Holland, who are each directing an episode. Priestley and Gould star in the episode The Screwfly Solution, about a deadly virus that transforms men into psychotic killers....

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Men in Black III started shooting today in New York City, and that screenwriter Jeff Nathanson has come aboard to write a new draft of the screenplay. Some intriguing production details were also revealed about the sequel, which will be filming until the week of Christmas before shutting down for the holidays. Instead of resuming production in January, like most productions, Men in Black III will be on hiatus until mid-February....

Top Gun: Maverick producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been in the business for over four decades and worked on numerous blockbusters like the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Beverly Hills Cop, and National Treasure. Yet, it was a legacy sequel 36 years in the making that turned out to be his best-performing film ever. Top Gun: Maverick debuted in May and is still refusing to budge from the box office charts, having grossed almost $1....

According to BBC News, twenty-one year old actress Karen Gillian has been chosen to play Doctor Who’s new assistant in the upcoming Doctor Who series that will premiere in the spring of 2010 on BBC One. The actress will star alongside recently appoint Time Lord Matt Smith. Gillian said of the role, “I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor’s new companion. I just can’t wait to get started....

Casa de Mi Padre director Matt Piedmont has signed on to direct the long-gestating adaptation King Dork for Nala Films and Gary Sanchez Productions. We first reported on this project way back in July 2009, when Gary Sanchez Productions acquired the rights to Frank Portman’s novel for Seth Gordon to direct. Now Gary Sanchez Productions is teaming with their Casa de Mi Padre partners Nala Films to co-produce this adaptation. The story centers on two best friends in 1987, whose love of rock and roll music helps them get through their time in high school, where they are branded as outsiders....

Ann Dowd, star of Hulu’s hit series, The Handmaid’s Tale, is joining the cast of the upcoming Exorcist reboot, The Exorcist, according to reports from Variety. The film is described as a new take on the demonic possession classic and will be the first movie in a planned trilogy. The official synopsis for The Exorcist reads: Dowd will join Ellen Burstyn, who will reprise her role as Chris MacNeil from the original 1973 film....

The ghost of Covid past is returning to haunt the start of 2022. Along with Sony’s postponing of Morbius, HBO Max has canceled the planned red carpet premiere for James Gunn’s Peacemaker series. Obviously, the series itself will still arrive on the platform on January 13th, but the recent rise in Omicron cases reportedly led to the cancelation of the event, which was due to take place on Saturday in Los Angeles....

Fox Broadcasting Company has given a 13-episode series order to Hieroglyph, a fantastical action-adventure show produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment, and executive-produced by Peter Chernin (New Girl, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Katherine Pope (New Girl) and Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans), who wrote the pilot script. Miguel Sapochnik (Repo Men, Fringe) will serve as an executive producer on the project and will direct the premiere episode....

The stars of Home Improvement are set to reunite as Tim Allen and Richard Karn are reteaming for a building-themed reality competition series for the History Channel. Famous for their breakout roles as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor and his television sidekick Al Borland on Home Improvement, Allen and Karn co-starred on the classic sitcom between 1991 and 1999. Though each has since moved on to new creative endeavors, Allen has just confirmed via Twitter that a reunion with Karn is on the horizon....
