HBO has released the on-air schedule of In Treatment, the most logistically complicated original series in the 35-year history of the network, according to Variety. Starring Gabriel Byrne as a psychotherapist, In Treatment consists of five characters in one-on-one sessions as patients with their analyst; the five get nine half-hours apiece for their story arcs, for a total of 45 episodes. Beginning on Monday, Jan. 28, at 9:30 p.m., the episode featuring the first of the five patients kicks off and runs for the next eight Mondays....

The sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the U.K’s longest reigning monarch and the second longest reigning in the world, was announced earlier today, and the outpouring of sympathy that followed saw messages flooding in from the public, world leaders, and celebrities. Among the first to share their thoughts was Dame Helen Mirren, who played Elizabeth in The Queen in 2006, and won an Oscar for her performance....

First and foremost, Hollywood has had a very rocky relationship with video game adaptations in the past, with most completely missing the mark. Secondly, there was the outrageous and downright creepy CGI rendering of Sonic. Everyone’s favorite superspeed blue hedgehog now sported smaller eyes, human-like teeth, a gaunt face, and realistic body fur — truly a thing of nightmares....

The Devil All the Time proved to be a hit for Netflix. Sporting an all-star cast, the crime drama garnered positive reviews and was immensely popular among Netflix users. The film, directed by Antonio Campos, was based on the novel of the same name written by Donald Ray Pollock. The Devil All The Time followed Tom Holland’s character, Arvil Eugene Russell, and an array of characters in the post-World War II South as they navigate through a gothic southern landscape rife with corrupt lawmen, shady preachers, and other dark elements....

Some good news and bad news for fans of His Dark Materials. The good news is that HBO and the BBC have renewed the fantasy series for season 3. The bad news is that the third season will conclude the series adaptation of Philip Pullman’s beloved series of novels. But it does mean that Lyra Belacqua’s tale will get a proper conclusion. News of the renewal comes just as His Dark Materials season 2 is gearing up for its finale on HBO....

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is certainly a divisive film in the overall franchise. Released in 2008, audiences had waited 19 years for Harrison Ford to reprise his role as the famous archeologist. Despite positive critical reaction at the time of its release and its position as the second highest-grossing film of 2008 at the worldwide box office, the perception of the movie quickly shifted among fans....

With the holiday season almost over, fans are ready for the second half of the TV season to begin in just a few short weeks. While The CW’s Arrow doesn’t return until mid-January, the network is filling that gaping void with a new behind-the-scenes featurette that reveals how the epic fight sequence between Arrow (Stephen Amell), The Black Canary (Caity Lotz) and The Mayor (Clé Bennett) came together. We see footage from the rehearsals, with stunt coordinator James Bamford taking us through the sequence with commentary that adds more insight into the anticipated moment, including the memorable switch-up, when Arrow and Canary briefly exchanged weapons, along with a deleted scene that didn’t make it into the final episode....

The Good This show lets us see a side of the Navy that we usually don’t get to see. The Bad A sticker on this release says that there are Special Features but I wasn’t able to find any. In JAG: The Complete Third Season we see Commander Rabb (David James Elliot), Major MacKenzie (Catherine Bell), Bud (Patrick Labyorteaux), Harriet (Karri Turner) and Admiral Chegwidden (John M. Jackson) do their best to defend America from the people who wish to bring this great nation down....

James Gunn is coming to the end of his time as director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and he recently revealed about the final movie has been one of the most complex and hardest to film. For fans of the current lineup of the Guardians, which includes Chris Pratt’s Star Lord, Dave Bautista’s Drax, Karen Gillian’s Nebula and Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and third Guardians movie will be the last time this particular group will come together on screen, but we will likely see a new iteration of them in the future....

The long-running series also spun off into several animated TV movies, one of which is Rockin’ with Judy Jetson, which was just released on DVD for the first time on August 16 through Warner Archive....

There was quite a bit of disappointment around Jeff Goldblum’s barely there cameo appearance in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but that all will be forgotten when the Jurassic Park star joins his fellow old school co-stars Sam Neill and Laura Dern in Jurassic World: Dominion this summer. Returning to the role of Ian Malcolm in a much more significant role obviously means that we will be getting more of those Malcolm observations that always seemed to be just an extension of Goldblum himself....

Starz President & CEO Chris Albrecht announced today at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter 2018 Press Tour that Starz and Lionsgate are developing a television series adaptation of the highly successful Lionsgate film franchise John Wick. The Continental series will be set in the John Wick universe, focusing on the inner workings of the exclusive Continental Hotel which serves as a refuge for assassins. Acclaimed writer/producer Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy, The Wire, and The Man in the High Castle) will write the series and serve as showrunner....

Joker is an excellent example of the need for social accountability in art. Historically, art has been a mirror for society, in which all triumphs, ills, and failures can be seen. However, the best art demonstrates a sense of responsibility to its viewers by offering hope, even solutions, to the issues and travesties displayed therein, rather than indulging in relevantly disturbing and upsetting content for shock value. Joker did at least something like the former in 2019 when it boldly called to the forefront cancerous institutional injustices and shortcomings....

Universal has found its director for its latest Robert Ludlum adaptation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jose Padilha has signed on to direct The Sigma Protocol. The film is an adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s last completed novel, published after his death. Ludlum’s book revolves around a man on the lam in Europe, attempting to flee covert agents and assassins. However, unlike Ludlum’s Jason Bourne series, which spawned the Matt Damon films The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, this novel uses a World War II/Nazi conspiracy at the story’s core....
