Dennis Quaid, Lucy Liu, Gabrielle Union, and Jaboukie Young-White have joined Strange World. They join previously announced Jake Gyllenhaal as key cast members for the Walt Disney Animation Studios feature. The full voice cast was revealed during a Walt Disney Animation Studios showcase at France’s Annecy Animation Festival. Strange World’s official synopsis reads: The Clade family is composed of: Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a farmer who finds himself thrust into an adventure in a strange world; Quaid as Searcher Clade’s larger-than-life explorer father Jaeger Clade; Young-White as Ethan Clade, Searcher’s 16-year-old son who longs for adventure beyond his father’s farm while also navigating a school crush; and Union as Meridian Clade, a pilot and natural leader, mom to Ethan, and wife of Searcher....

Jeff Bridges has joined the cast of Bob Weide’s comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People in the key role of Clayton Harding, a New York magazine editor closely modeled on Vanity Fair’s Graydon Carter. According to Variety, Danny Huston and Gillian Anderson have also been signed up for the movie, which stars Simon Pegg and Kirsten Dunst. How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, which starts shooting June 4, is based on British journalist Toby Young’s memoir of his misadventures in New York as a contributing editor for Vanity Fair....

It is not unfair to say that the news of Melissa McBride’s departure from The Walking Dead Daryl/Carol spin-off series led to a big reaction from fans of the show, with many taking out their disappointment on actor Norman Reedus, who will continue on alone in the spin-off series. Despite it being explained that McBride’s exit from the project was down to the location filming in Europe and nothing more, that didn’t stop a number of comments being made suggesting that Reedus had forced McBride out to get the show all to himself....

Actor Jonah Hill will make his directorial debut with The Kitchen Sink for Sony Pictures. Oren Uziel wrote the script, which landed on the 2010 Black List for best unproduced screenplays. The story centers on a group of teenagers, a vampire, a zombie and a human, who band together to fight off the aliens attacking their town. The title refers to Uziel throwing in every popular movie monster into this coming-of-age story....

Following two teasers from the final season of Justified, FX has released a new trailer with the first footage from Season 6. The beloved series, based on Elmore Leonard’s novella “Fire in the Hole,” will return Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 10 PM ET. The Matrix and John Wick star Keanu Reeves will star in the next movie from 22 Jump Street and Don’t Look Up star Jonah Hill. The mysterious project, titled Outcome, will see Hill go behind the camera as director with Reeves now attached as the movie’s lead. Revealed courtesy of Deadline, Outcome has been written by both Jonah Hill and Ezra Woods, and will be produced by Hill’s Strong Baby banner....

Jonathan Winters, George Lopez, Katy Perry and Alan Cumming have joined the voice cast for Sony’s live-action/animated Smurfs movie, according to Variety. The 84-year-old Winters voiced multiple characters on the long-running Hanna-Barbera cartoon version of Smurfs, and will play Papa Smurf. Pop singer Perry is in talks to portray Smurfette, Alan Cumming is taking on Gutsy Smurf and George Lopez is onboard as Grouchy Smurf. Neil Patrick Harris has already signed on as the project’s live-action character....

Guillermo del Toro will direct Beauty and the Beast for Warner Bros., which has Emma Watson in final negotiations to star. However, the changes made to Station Eleven are far more intelligent and work in the adaptation’s favor, especially since it deals with the touchy subject of humanity being wiped out by disease....
