According to Variety, IFC Films has acquired domestic theatrical rights to Matthew Barney’s latest feature, Drawing Restraint 9, which stars the filmmaker-artist and his Icelandic pop-star wife Bjork. Bjork composed the score to the pic, a love story with minimal dialogue centering on two guests who board a Japanese whaling ship in Nagasaki Bay. Barney, whose credits include the five-film Cremaster cycle, is known for his theatrical visuals, which in the new pic include a tanker filled with liquid petroleum jelly, a parade of animals and a tea ceremony in which Barney and Bjork wear costumes inspired by Shinto marriage rites....

Deadline TV is reporting that J.J. Abrams is reuniting with Lost executive producer Elizabeth Sarnoff for a new TV series entitled Alcatraz. Warner Bros. TV is behind the show, which is currently being shopped to all the major networks by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company.
