By the time House of the Dragon began, House Targaryen had already been in power for hundreds of years. Obviously, it wouldn’t make for a very compelling television show if the Targaryens continued to rule the Seven Kingdoms uncontested. They do, however, command a considerable army of fearsome dragons, which makes even the most power-hungry potential usurpers wary of challenging their claim to the throne. The single biggest threat to their reign is civil war....

Announced in 2019, House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, has been a long time in the making and has kept fans eager for their journey back into the fantasy universe created by author George R. R. Martin. House of the Dragon is based on Martin’s novel Fire and Blood and takes place roughly 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones. House of the Dragon will center on the Targaryen family and is set during the Dance of the Dragons, a Targaryen civil war that affected all of Westeros....

The first season of House of the Dragon has been full of politics, war, betrayals, and schemes. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg, according to showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the pair describe the debut episodes of the series as a “slow burn” and one that will pay off in the later seasons. This is similar to the narrative structure of Game of Thrones, as both shows spend time properly setting up their characters, the stakes, and alliances before fans are given the massive battles and shocking backstabbings that would come later on....

Jenna Ortega had big patent leather shoes to fill when she stepped into the titular role for Netflix’s Addams Family spin-off, Wednesday. Not only was the actress taking on an iconic character—most famously portrayed by Christina Ricci in 1991’s The Addams Family—but her predecessor was on set for all eight episodes of the black comedy (albeit in a different, “normie” role). John Krasinski is getting slammed on social media for selling Some Good News to CBS. It was announced last week that Krasinski had sold the web series after hosting it for the past eight weeks on YouTube. The actor/director first had the idea for the show seven years ago, but figured that now was the perfect time to deliver it to the world. Krasinski was right. Within two months, he had amassed over 2 million subscribers and episodes were getting watched by an average of 17 million people....

The story of The Grateful Dead, one of rock music’s all-time greatest bands, will be told in an upcoming untitled biopic, courtesy of Apple. The company has lined up esteemed filmmaker Martin Scorsese to direct a movie based on the psychedelic rock band with Jonah Hill on board to play late frontman Jerry Garcia. American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are penning the screenplay....

That didn’t take long. It was announced earlier today that Leslie Jones is officially leaving Saturday Night Live after 5 years of serving as a Not Ready for Prime Time Player following her stint as a writer on the legendary sketch comedy show. Now it looks like she’s found her next gig. And it’s a delicious one. She’ll be hosting a reboot of the classic 1960s game show Supermarket Sweep....

It’s been five years since Gareth Edwards brought Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to the big screen, which was generally seen as one of the best Star Wars movies to have been released since the original trilogy came to an end in the early 80s. With its CGI recreation of Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher as Grand Moff Tarkin and Princess Leia respectively, and the decision to kill off the main characters at the end of the film, there were always going to be some controversies around the prequel, but Edwards still stands by it all, and with good reason as Rogue One became a billion dollar hit and landed with both critics and audiences alike....

GLOW season 4 is no longer happening. Netflix has announced that they are canceling the popular show earlier today. The series, which stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron, is one of the streaming platforms biggest shows and season 4 was announced back in September 2019. The name Harry Potter is recognizable the world over. It has helped produce the biggest franchises in both literary and motion picture history, with even more potential films on the way. While the films primary focus is on Harry, Ron, and Hermione. There are several characters from the Wizarding World that do not get the screen time they need or deserve throughout the franchise. This is of course understandable, as a movie does not provide the same size of canvas in which to tell a story that a book series does, and things do need to be cut down or out to make a cohesive and successful film, and there will undoubtedly be differences between the books and the films....

Hilary Swank and her producing partner Molly Smith have optioned screen rights to the bestselling nonfiction book, French Women Don’t Get Fat, with Heather Hach set to adapt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Swank is eyeing the project as a potential starring vehicle, and Smith will produce via their recently formed Alcon Entertainment-based 2S Films, along with Aaron Geller and Darryl Porter of PorterGeller Entertainment.
