Herb Gains, executive producer of the new Zack Synder adaptation Watchmen, has just updated the official website with details on finishing the film. The cast for the new action feature includes Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Carla Gugino, Stephen McHattie and Matt Frewer. DreamWorks Pictures has released a brand new featurette for the upcoming sci-fi movie I Am Number Four, which will be released in theaters nationwide on February 18, 2011. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Image Entertainment has secured DVD rights to seminal music film Hail! Hail! Rock ’n’ Roll, from Oscar-winning director Taylor Hackford and is preparing two-disc and four-disc editions with never-before-seen footage, documentaries, interviews and other bonus materials. The 1987 film, which captures the concert commemorating the 60th birthday of Chuck Berry, features such music superstars as Eric Clapton, Etta James, Robert Cray, Linda Ronstadt and the Everly Brothers....

James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water was a hit in movie theaters since day one. The long-awaited sequel to the world of Pandora took its time to see the light but finally made it to the silver screen with astonishing results. With the first movie up in the streaming counts and the second one receiving massive crowds in cinemas, the director has done it again, creating a blockbuster film with an immersive universe and beautiful imagery....

When Grindhouse opened in theaters across the country on April 6th of 2007, it didn’t fare too well at the box office. Some blamed the film’s length, and when it arrived on DVD and Blu-ray, it was released as two separate films: Death Proof [2 Discs] [Special Edition] [Extended and Unrated] and Planet Terror [2 Discs] [Special Edition] [Extended and Unrated]. Absent from these releases were the faux-trailers that ran during the film’s intended intermission....

While James Gunn is now filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, we will see the ragtag group a couple of times before that movie arrives next year. First members of the Guardians team will be joining Thor in Love and Thunder this summer, and then we will see them again in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in December. In a recent interview with the Radio Times, Gunn called the new special “the greatest thing he’s ever done in his life” and seemed to suggest that it is more wild and unbelievable than anything he has previously been a part of....

A few months back, I was invited up to the amazing Pixar campus in Emeryville, California, to participate in the long lead day for the highly anticipated sequel Cars 2, which hits theaters nationwide on June 24. I had been up to Pixar once before, but it’s such a cool facility that I never mind going back there....

Warner Bros. has picked up the film rights to a book on the mysterious death of former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko; Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil will develop the film. Depp will also possibly star in the big screen version of Sasha’s Story: The Life and Death of a Russian Spy, written by New York Times London bureau chief Alan Cowell In London, the investigation continues into the death of Litvinenko, who was poisoned in late November by polonium-210, Variety reports....

Johnny Depp can put a dollar amount to what it cost him to lose his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean films as Captain Jack Sparrow. Currently, Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard are suing one another as each former spouse has accused the other of domestic abuse. According to Depp, he had been in talks with Disney about lining up his return in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 before Heard went public with what he says are false allegations against him....

Joseph Baena has begun following in his father Arnold Schwarzenegger’s footsteps by embarking on his own acting career, and it certainly helps to have a veteran Hollywood star as a parent to help offer some useful advice. Just getting started with his own foray into acting, Baena has had a couple of roles filmed for some upcoming movie projects, and it appears we may be seeing him on the big screen soon enough....

MTV.COM recently sat down with Keanu Reeves to discuss his newest project The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. It was during this discussion that the subject of Cowboy Bebop came up. Here is what Reeves had to say: It seems that as great as this adaptation of the anime series is, there is still the bottom line for the studio, Fox, to think about. “There’s a draft of the script, but the writer did such a great job [that] in order to make the movie, you would need half a billion dollars,” Reeves stated....

Earlier this month, we reported that Kevin Costner was circling a role in Paramount’s Untitled Jack Ryan Project, as a mentor to Chris Pine’s title character. Today, we have word that the actor is in negotiations to play the same character in the Jack Ryan movie and another Tom Clancy adaptation, Without Remorse. The actor will play William Harper, a loyal patriot who recruits and mentors both Jack Ryan and John Kelly, who becomes CIA operative John Clark in Without Remorse....

Actress Kristen Stewart has responded to her first Academy Award nomination for her powerful, transformative performance as Princess Diana in the psychological drama Spencer. In a statement released courtesy of ET, Stewart said that she was “speechless” and “humbled” by the nomination she has received for Best Actress at the 94th Academy Awards. “WOW I wish Pablo and I were in the same country today,” Stewart said in a statement. “I wish I could see his face....
