HBO Max has greenlit the half-hour dramedy, Generation, which marks the streamer’s first pilot to get a full series order. The series is created by 18-year old Zelda Barnz and her father Daniel Barnz who also directs. Executive produced by Lena Dunham and Ben Barnz, Generation is a dark yet playful half-hour following a group of high school students whose exploration of modern sexuality (devices and all) tests deeply entrenched beliefs about life, love and the nature of family in their conservative community....

Production Weekly recently tweeted that high-profile actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Amanda Seyfried are rumored to be a part of The Great Gatsby movie. The tweet indicated that Leonardo DiCaprio would play Jay Gatsby, Tobey Maguire would portray Nick Carraway and Amanda Seyfried would take on the role of Daisy Buchanan. We reported way back in December of 2008 that Baz Luhrmann would direct the movie, although it seems that he’s torn between this and another mystery project....

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star Giancarlo Esposito has offered further details regarding his meetings with Marvel Studios. The romantic comedy Going the Distance will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 30. The Good A well made, funny movie that ain’t gonna stop terrorism but you’ll have a lot of fun watching it. The Bad I wish the menus of the DVD had been organized better. (Come on, I had to think of something!) How in the world did Grandma’s Boy only make $6 million worldwide. How does a film with not much of a plot (it is mainly a movie of comedic moments), is centered on the the “gamer” world and comes from Happy Madison Productions, only make a tenth of a what a typical Adam Sandler movie opens at?...

There may be no plans to bring The Green Hornet to the screen until 2010, but Seth Rogen hopes to have something from the film to show at Comic-Con 2009. The upcoming horror sequel, Halloween Ends, will not necessarily be the end of infamous killer Michael Myers. While you would be forgiven for thinking that Halloween Ends is, well, the end (the title should be a dead giveaway), Blumhouse Productions CEO and producer Jason Blum revealed that Michael Myers could wreak havoc once again following the release of the legacy trilogy finale. In an interview with Screen Rant, Blum clarified some things regarding Halloween Ends and the slasher franchise as a whole, explaining that the upcoming sequel will be the end of their time with the world of Halloween – but is not necessarily the final Halloween film ever....

Hamish Hamilton will direct the 82nd Academy Awards telecast, show producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman announced today.
