The title will be available in Europe as the movie releases in different regions. It’s hard to imagine Gizmo as violently evil, but that was the original plan for Gremlins. Released in 1984, Gremlins was directed by Joe Dante and produced by Steven Spielberg. The film was met with tremendous success and is widely regarded as one of the very best movies of its era and an all-time great of the horror genre. AMC announced today the Season 2 premiere of Halt & Catch Fire will air on Sunday, May 31 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The series, which stars Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Mackenzie Davis and Kerry Bishé, will pick up in early 1985 and center on the rise of Mutiny, Cameron (Davis) and Donna’s (Bishé) start-up company that is built upon the most disruptive idea of the modern era-the Internet. At the same time, Joe (Pace), Gordon (McNairy) and Bosworth (Toby Huss) will be caught up in their own “online” wave, remaking the tech landscape all around them, as they attempt to heal old wounds and deal with the fallout of Season 1....

House of the Dragon is off to a fiery start on HBO. According to Deadline, the Game of Thrones spinoff/prequel drew nearly 10 million viewers for the premiere, which debuted last night on Aug. 21. This broke a record, as Thrones usually does, making the debut the largest audience for any new original series in the history of pay cable. Game of Thrones used to seemingly break records with each episode’s release, as the series finale reached 19....

Henry Winkler, the actor who played charismatic greaser Arthur Fonzarelli in the classic sitcom Happy Days, was almost always seen on the show in his trademark leather jacket. Aside from one of the screen-used jackets previously donated to the Smithsonian, very few others are known to exist, but Winkler himself had kept two for himself which he’s kept all these years....

Director Matt Walsh discusses his improvised comedy High Road, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD March 6 There’s a classic line in the 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder where Robert Downey Jr.’s Kirk Lazarus, an Australian actor playing an African-American soldier, says, “I don’t drop character ’till I done the DVD commentary.” Of course, on the actual DVD commentary, there was Robert Downey Jr., still in character, chatting away as Kirk Lazarus. Last month, when I had the chance to drop in on a DVD commentary recording session for the comedy High Road, it actually was somewhat similar… but they didn’t go full Kirk Lazarus....

The latest House of Cards Season 6 trailer finds Claire Underwood’s leadership abilities being questioned. Robin Wright’s Claire is the first President of the United States, after her husband, Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood, resigned. Spacey was fired from the show after multiple men came forward and accused him of sexual misconduct. The House of Cards writers wrote him out of the show by killing him off screen, leaving Wright to do the heavy lifting for the sixth and final season of the hit Netflix political drama....

Heat Vision Blog reports that director Bryan Singer is currently casting for his Jack the Giant Killer movie, and such names as Aaron Johnson, Nicholas Hoult and newcomer Aneurin Bernard are in contention to play the young farmer who leads a rescue mission to save a princess from the giants’ land. This news falls in line with a report from October, which indicated Aaron Johnson may be starring in the movie, although it isn’t close to a done deal yet....

For James Gunn, his short-term sacking by Disney from his Guardians of the Galaxy directorial role was a strange case of a blessing in disguise. Thanks to Disney “letting him go” for a little while, Gunn was able to get himself on board the DC train as director on The Suicide Squad, and subsequently led to him building a very healthy and seemingly productive relationship with Warner Bros. While all of those issues are now resolved, and Gunn is currently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol....

Fans of James Hong may be shocked to learn that the veteran actor does not yet have his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but that officially changes next month. The actor, who can be recognized from the cult classic Big Trouble in Little China as well as dozens upon dozens of other big and small screen roles, has been appearing on-screen since the early 1950s. There’s no retirement in sight for the 93-year-old as Hong still frequently appears in movies and TV shows with multiple upcoming projects in the works....

Joe Johnston has inked a deal to direct The First Avenger: Captain America, Marvel Studios’ take on its classic comic book character. Marvel’s Kevin Feige is producing. No writers are on board, but the studio, which is hearing pitches, expects to hire shortly. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnston first met with Marvel two years ago. When the two parties clicked, general talks turned into Captain America-specific meetings, with much of the project’s current direction resulting from those early conversations....

In a recent statement, actor John Leguizamo who is known for hits such as Moulin Rouge!, John Wick, and Encanto, stated that casting directors generally chose white actors over Latinos. According to him, this happens even when the original roles were supposed to be played by Latin stars. Leguizamo revealed in an interview with Insider that he had once lost out on an opportunity to play a Latin character purely due to a director’s aversion to casting more than one Latin actor in his film....
