Kimberly Peirce has signed on to direct the drama The Knife, for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment inspired by the true story of a South Central gang member who became a paid FBI informant, reports Deadline. The script is being written by Vineet Dewan and Brian Grazer is producing. The project is based on “The Inside Man”, a 2008 GQ Magazine article by Guy Lawson, which told the story of the young Crips member who simply walked into an FBI office to offer his services because he was worn down by the senseless crime and killing around him....

Game of Thrones was almost completely snubbed from the 2020 Golden Globe Award nominations, with Kit Harington serving as the only representation from the series to be up for an award. For the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama, Harington was nominated for his role of Jon Snow for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, and the actor has since responded to the news....

The upcoming Home Improvement cameo in Fox’s Last Man Standing took a lot of work for showrunner Kevin Abbott and crew. It was recently announced that Tim Allen is reprising his iconic Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor for the final season of his current sitcom, which had fans very excited. A teaser for the episode finds Allen’s Mike Baxter speaking with Taylor, who is trying to provide some help for Baxter’s Outdoor Man 10th Anniversary....

Following his recent return to the Law & Order universe, NBC is keeping Elliot Stabler around for a while longer. Last month, Christopher Meloni finally reprised the role of the popular detective after departing from Law & Order: SVU a decade ago. He hadn’t so much as made a special appearance in the years since, and his return generated tremendous excitement among fans. On the same night of his SVU return, Meloni also kicked off his own Stabler-led spinoff series, Law & Order: Organized Crime....

Actors Leslie Mann and Israel Broussard (Flipped) have joined the cast of director Sofia Coppola’s true crime tale The Bling Ring. The drama is based on the true story of six teenagers, known as The Bling Ring, who broke into the homes of Hollywood celebrities, making off with over $3 million in stolen goods from October 2008 to August 2009. Leslie Mann will play the mother of two girls in The Bling Ring, while Israel Broussard portrays the male lead....

The stars of Freaky Friday are wanting to make a follow-up film. Though the 2003 film was one of many adaptations of the classic story, it is among the most memorable, due in part to the performances by its lead stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. In the film, the two star as a daughter and mother who switch bodies by way of magic, giving each a chance to better understand the other by literally walking in their shoes....

For two seasons, Girls5eva has streamed at Peacock, and the good news for fans is that it has just been renewed for a third season, per Variety. The catch is that viewers will have to switch streaming services to catch the new episodes, as the show will also be making the move from Peacock to Netflix ahead of the third season’s arrival....

Writer-producer Greg Berlanti has signed a new deal with Warner Bros. Television, after a five-year stint at ABC Studios, which will bring his numerous movie and TV projects together under one roof. Greg Berlanti was nearly three years into his five-year deal at ABC Studios, before they allowed him to leave and return to Warner TV. Greg Berlanti had previously worked at Warner Bros. Television for four years before joining ABC in 2006....

It seems like veteran filmmaker Guillermo del Toro will be first in line to see the directorial debut film from pop star Taylor Swift. Recently, it was announced that Swift was writing an original screenplay with plans to direct the movie for Searchlight Pictures. Not many details have yet been revealed about the project, but it will serve as the first feature film to be directed by the accomplished singer. Swift previously directed short films to dip her toe into filmmaking before setting up the Searchlight deal for a feature-length project....

Summit Entertainment has brought on Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg to write the reboot of Highlander. Justin Lin (Fast Five) is still attached to direct Highlander. We first reported on his involvement with Highlander back in September of 2009. Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway worked on the first draft of Highlander. Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley also took a pass at the script. The franchise first began with the 1986 movie Highlander, which starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery....
