Blu-ray has gotten some big support. In a story from Twice, the “Home Theater Specialists of America (HTSA), the $500 million buying group for A/V specialty dealers and installers, has formally confirmed that it is backing Blu-ray Disc technology based on sales trends among its 62 members.” This announcement was made “during the recent CEDIA Expo that it will make Blu-ray its exclusive format choice for high-definition disc players. According to the results of an internal study released today, 92 percent of category sales by HTSA members were in Blu-ray players, with the balance comprised mostly of dual-format players that combine BD and HD-DVD playback capability....

Continuing to bolster its substantial animation slate, HBO Max is bringing aboard the third season of Infinity Train with an exclusive premiere on the streaming platform this summer. The series first season, Book 1, tells the story of a precocious young girl named Tulip on a mystery adventure that finds her on a train full of infinite worlds going against all odds to find her way back home. The second installment, aptly titled Book 2, follows Mirror Tulip, an escaped reflection from the mirror world....
Back in October we reported that Jackie Earle Haley was about to sign on to play Sinestro in Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern, although we updated later on that Haley hadn’t even heard of the part at the time. Now HitFix is reporting that Haley is the front-runner to play Sinestro. The site also went on to say that Sinestro might not have a huge part in this film, but will set up future sequels where he will surely have a bigger role....

Graham King and Tim Headingtons’ GK Films are developing a bigscreen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, according to Variety. Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, who wrote the book for the musical, will pen the screenplay. The feature film will use much of the same music and lyrics in the stage play, including hit songs “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” “Oh What a Night” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” among others....
