A coalition of nearly 1,500 showrunners and directors fighting for reproductive rights announced Friday that nine major Hollywood studios are stepping up to protect access to abortion. The coalition—which includes creators like Shonda Rhimes, JJ Abrams, Mindy Kaling, and Judd Apatow—called on the nine companies to adopt plans to “guarantee that all employees and other production workers in need of emergency reproductive healthcare can be transported expeditiously across state lines” if located in a state where abortion has been made illegal....

Hugh Dancy, Kathryn Hahn, Shirley Knight and Janet Montgomery have joined the Paul Rudd-starring comedy My Idiot Brother, directed by Jesse Peretz. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film stars Rudd as the title character, an idealist who during the course of the movie crashes at the homes of each of his three, more ambitious sisters, played by Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer. Dancy will play a pretentious painter friend of Deschanel’s character; Hahn joins the cast as Rudd’s ex-girlfriend; Knight will appear as his overbearing mother; and Montgomery will portray a British aristocrat whom the Banks character is profiling for a magazine piece....

MTV caught up with director Jon Favreau, who revealed that Iron Man 3 will really be a sequel to future Marvel adaptations Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers. Interesting news coming to us from the Egyptian set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. According to an article in the French magazine Première Ciné Live, translated courtesy of our friends at IESB.net, it seems that John Turtoro will be giving a voice to the Autobot Jetfire, in addition to reprising his role as Agent Simmons. Variety’s Actors on Actors series has delivered many memorable combinations of celebrities, but their latest episode brought together possibly its most incredible interviewees yet: Josh Brolin, and Josh Brolin. As bizarre as it sounds, there is a reason why Brolin ended up sitting opposite himself for the interview, as Jeremy Renner was originally meant to appear with him, but he missed his flight due to the weather. Actor Keanu Reeves was almost chosen to parody his reputation as an action hero rather than Brad Pitt in the Nee brothers’ recent action-comedy, The Lost City. Speaking with ScreenRant, Adam Nee revealed that it was almost the John Wick star who played The Lost City’s action man Jack Trainer, but due to the actor’s commitments to the assassin saga, it was ultimately Brad Pitt who was chosen for the hilarious role....

As the superhero movie boom continues its conquering of Hollywood, Kick-Ass is stepping back into the fray. The original Kick-Ass movie, based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., was directed by Matthew Vaughn and written by Vaughn and Jane Goldman. It was released in 2010 while the Marvel Cinematic Universe was still in its infancy. Jeff Wadlow wrote and directed Kick-Ass 2, which hit theaters in 2013....

There’s nothing on the down-low or the hush-hush about this new September release. L.A. Confidential will be released in a brand new special edition and on Blu-Ray on September 23.
