Producer Stephen L’Heureux has acquired the rights to the Top Cow graphic novel In the Dust for a new feature adaptation through his company, Solipsist Films. George Mahaffey and Christian Duce created the comic book, which centers on a federal agent in the 1930s, who is investigating the bizarre disappearances of entire families during Midwestern dust storms. The agent discovers an army of vampires, who use the Dust Bowl as cover to feed on innocent families....

Showtime is renewing its theatrical output deal with Paramount Pictures, which means that Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will make its television debut on the pay cable channel. According to Variety, Both Showtime and Paramount declined to comment. For the past couple of years, Showtime has been unhappy with the cost of theatrical fare due to its availability on DVD and pay-per-view in advance of its pay cable run....

Bam Margera has been put on a ventilator in a local ICU after being hit with a severe case of pneumonia and contracting Covid-19. The Viva La Bam and Jackass star has most recently been spending a lot of time in rehab facilities to overcome drug and alcohol addictions. According to TMZ, the star was rushed to a hospital in San Diego after struggling to breathe. Once in the hospital, he was tested for Covid and found positive....

One of the popular Jonas Brothers is coming to the small screen on a popular CBS drama. According to E! Online, Joe Jonas will appear as a guest star on Brothers and Sisters in a special two-episode arc. It was said that Jonas would portray the younger version of Balthazar Getty’s Tommy Walker in flashback episodes that will delve into the Walker family’s history. The site also reported that Rachel Leigh Cook has auditioned to guest-star on the two-episode arc as the younger version of Sally Field’s Nora Walker, but the part hasn’t been cast yet....

Johnny Depp’s production company, Infinitum Nihil has picked up the rights to four new projects. Three come from Graham King’s Initial Entertainment Group; the other comes from Warner Bros. Pictures. The WB flick is based on the Nick Hornby dark comic, A Long Way Down; D.V. DeVincentis has been hired to adapt the screenplay, reports Variety. The story follows four desperate people who meet on New Year’s Eve and form a surrogate family....

TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 is going to continue in light of the couple’s plans for divorce. According to Variety, after a week of speculation that was brought on initially by a TLC promo, the series stars Jon and Kate Gosselin confirmed on Monday night’s episode that they had filed for divorce in the state of Pennsylvania. TLC had promised a major announcement in the episode. But given the fact that it was no secret the Gosselins’ marriage was on the rocks - followed widespread confirmation Monday that divorce papers had been filed - the on-screen reveal wound up being anti-climactic....

Jonshel Alexander, famous for her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild, was shot dead in her hometown of New Orleans last Saturday. The child actor from the Oscar-nominated film was 22, and her untimely loss has struck her family and co-stars hard. Kate Winslet has signed on for Mildred Pierce, a miniseries adaptation of the James M. Cain novel that Todd Haynes is writing and directing. According to Variety, sources said HBO is the lead contender to get the series, but pay web sources said no deal has been struck. Cain’s tale was famously turned into the 1945 film that won Joan Crawford an Oscar for the lead role of a bored housewife who gets into the restaurant business, an enterprise that leads to backstabbing, romance and murder....

Frasier star Kelsey Grammer is heading to the streaming service Fox Nation. Per Variety, Grammer is set to host the multi-part docuseries Kelsey Grammer’s Historic Battles for America, a series that will delve into eight key battles in American history. The actor will “examine the strategies and inner workings of such landmark skirmishes as the Battle of Bunker Hill during the American Revolution, the fight for the Alamo, and the First Battle of Bull Run during the Civil War,” concluding with a spotlight on the Battle of the Little Bighorn....

Yellowstone star Kevin Costner has just picked up his next starring role in a Western film, but this time, he’ll be back in the director’s chair as well for the first time since 2003’s Open Range. Costner is on board to direct the period Western Horizon with production slated to start in Utah on Aug. 29. Costner is also set to star in the movie in addition to producing and financing it through his Territory Pictures production company....

During a recent interview with Sam Rockwell, io9 learned that Kevin Spacey will be playing the voice of a robot in the upcoming thriller Moon. The movie is being directed by David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones. In the film, Rockwell plays a miner suffering from space madness, as he has been sent to a moon base alone to mine a precious ore. Just a few weeks away from his release, Rockwell’s character learns that he is about to be replaced by his own clone and must come face to face with this doppelganger....

The classic zombie movie Dawn of the Dead is coming back to theaters. Originally released in 1978 by zombie movie pioneer George A. Romero, the film serves as the filmmaker’s follow-up to the original Night of the Living Dead. In Dawn of the Dead, the undead besiege a shopping mall where human survivors are holed up inside.
