After the film’s success as the highest-grossing musical film of its time, it seems redundant to state that the culture, attitudes, and aesthetics of Grease have had a major knock-on effect in representing the true nature of high school love in film, including being a firm example of the “Good Girl / Bad Guy” rom-com plot niche....

The Good A show that doesn’t try and be supercool and that’s exactly what it ends up being. The Bad I really could have used an in-depth look at the career of Patrick Dempsey. Grey’s Anatomy: Season 1 is the kind of TV show it is either going to go on and become a huge hit, or it will lose itself and if it’s lucky go two more seasons at best....

After a few hiccups, principal photography on Netflix’s The Witcher season 3 has finally wrapped, executive producer Steve Gaub announced on Instagram recently. The Witcher season 3 commenced production this April, but filming was forced to shut down in July due to a COVID outbreak on the set. But it has been smooth sailing since then, and the third season of The Witcher took significantly less time to shoot than the second one....

Walt Disney Pictures announced today that it will debut the highly anticipated trailer and first look footage of High School Musical 3: Senior Year globally on Disney Channels Worldwide this coming July 13th. It will then be followed by a worldwide online launch July 14th at 12:01 a.m. (East Coast time). Filming has begun on the third and final season of HBO and BBC One’s His Dark Materials, the adaptation of Philip Pullman’s book trilogy of the same name. Having already adapted Northern Lights and The Subtle Knife in the first two seasons, it is the turn of The Amber Spyglass to round off the series in an eight episode run. The series is produced by Bad Wolf in association with New Line Cinema....

IFC Films, one of the leading foreign and independent film distributors, today launches a new genre label called IFC Midnight. IFC Midnight will offer the very best in international genre cinema, including horror, sci-fi, thrillers, erotic arthouse, action and more. Four new IFC midnight films will premiere each month on video-on-demand; select titles will also be released in theaters at the same time as their VOD premiere. In addition, an IFC Midnight branded line of Blu-ray and DVD product will be released via a distribution arrangement with MPI Media Group...

When Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull arrived as a belated sequel to the iconic Indiana Jones trilogy, it brought with it a number of controversial issues. From the inclusion of aliens to Harrison Ford’s advancing years, there were plenty of things for fans of the franchise to focus on when it came to negativity around the movie. Industrial Light + Magic will be the principal visual effects house on Marvel Studios’ Iron Man , according to The Hollywood Reporter. ILM sister company Skywalker Sound will handle sound design and mixing on the film and that Deluxe’s DI business Efilm, which opened a DI suite at Skywalker Ranch last year, will do the film’s color timing and mastering. Iron Man is directed by Jon Favreau with John Nelson as visual effects supervisor; a May 2008 release is planned....

Harrison Ford will be de-aged for Indiana Jones 5 opening sequence, which transports him back to 1944 and puts him back in the jacket he wore in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. While the jacket seen on screen was a “thread for thread” replication of the jacket, the original was brought out of storage for Ford to try on, which certainly would take the actor back in time to his first Indiana Jones outing....

Bloody-Disgusting has reported that director James Wan (the Saw franchise) will co-write and direct the drama Castlevania for Paul W.S. Anderson who also wrote the script and is producing. Wan is replacing Sylvain White, who was previously set to direct the video game adaptation. Castlevania is based on the classic video game, and begins as a Transylvanian knight leads his men into a gothic castle to seek refuge from the Turkish army....
