It seems that Tom Hanks is taking another Broadway musical and bringing it to the silver screen… but this time, the musical hasn’t even opened yet. Deadline New York is reporting that Tom Hanks and his Playtone partner Gary Goetzman are in discussions to turn the upcoming musical American Idiot into a film. The Broadway musical, which will open on April 20, revolves around the Green Day album of the same name and uses songs from the album to tell the story of three small-town friends who all take different paths: one enlists in a branch of the armed forces, another moves to the city and gets hooked on drugs and the other stays at home and ends up getting his girlfriend pregnant....
