It has been over 30 years since viewers last saw Janet Hubert as a series regular in a TV series when she played OG Aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Following her exit from the popular sitcom, the 66-year-old Chicago native claimed for years that she had been blackballed from working in the industry after being considered “difficult to work with.” She also viewed her “terrible contract” as an attempt to put her in her place and eventually filed a lawsuit, feeling that Will Smith influenced NBC in reducing her salary and airtime....

Friends star Jennifer Aniston is returning to television after 14 years with Reese Witherspoon for Apple’s first scripted series. Apple is swinging for the fences while getting its original programming off of the ground. It looks like the end is nigh for another Doctor as Jodie Whittaker looks set to step into the TARDIS for her last time in two upcoming Doctor Who specials before handing over the reigns to her yet to be announced replacement. The rumors began earlier in the year that Whittaker, who plays the 13th incarnation of the Time Lord, was ready to step down, having served a similar three year stint in the role as predecessors Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith and David Tennant - although Tennant stayed on beyond his third season for a year’s worth of specials which extended his tenure....

Jon Cryer’s Lex Luthor is locked up in the first-look image from The CW’s Supergirl. Cryer will make his debut in an episode titled, O Brother Where Art Thou?, which hits the small screen in March. The episode will see the villain reaching out from prison to enlist the help of Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath). The synopsis for the episode states that he will do anything to get her on his side, “even if that means leveraging the life of one of her friends....

The director of last year’s Best Foreign Language Film Oscar will direct a new Spyglass Entertainment project. According to Heat Vision Blog, Juan José Campanella (The Secret in Their Eyes) has come aboard to direct Heck. The film will be an adaptation of the children’s fantasy book series Heck: Where the Bad Kids Go, written by Dale E. Bayse and illustrated by Bob Dob, which was described by the site as a children’s version of Dante’s Inferno....

Via Variety, we’ve learned that Tomorrow Studios is coming out with many new shows, one of which is from actress Julia Garner. Garner and her producing partner Rowan Riley sealed a first-look deal with Tomorrow Studios, an ITV partnership, earlier this year. Under this deal, Garner and Riley would develop a scripted series via their Alma Margo production company for Tomorrow. Their first series will be a drama about an international jewel heist titled Balabusta....

Criminals beware: Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is back as FX announced that season two of its critically acclaimed drama series Justified will return on Wednesday, February 9 at 10 PM ET/PT and run for 13 weeks. Developed by Graham Yost and starring Timothy Olyphant, Justified is based on the works of crime novelist Elmore Leonard, including Leonard’s short story Fire in the Hole. Fresh off the epic gun battle that concluded season one, season two of Justified finds Bo Crowder dead and the Crowder criminal grip on Harlan County broken....

Netflix will debut its new heist drama series Kaleidoscope at the start of the new year, and ahead of the premiere, a slew of first look photos have been unveiled. The images feature Giancarlo Esposito and the other members of the anthology show’s ensemble cast as they plot out a heist 25 years in the making. Each episode of the series is set at a different point in time, serving as a puzzle piece offering only part of the story until viewers make it to the end....

A new thriller starring Kevin Spacey is heading to Cannes. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the film is called Peter Five Eight and features the controversial actor in the leading role. The film will screen at the Cannes market where it will be shopped to buyers. The film is financed by Mad Honey and LTD Films and is co-produced by Ascent Films and Forever Safe. Finalist Lacey Brown was eliminated tonight on American Idol after she received the fewest of America’s votes. On Tuesday’s performance show, the Top 12 performed songs by The Rolling Stones, and Brown, 24, from Amarillo, TX, sang “Ruby Tuesday.” In addition, pop sensations Ke$ha and Orianthi sang their latest hits, and Season Seven winner David Cook took the stage to perform The Rolling Stones’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” It was also announced tonight that the Judges’ Save returns this season....

Deadline is reporting that actor Leonardo DiCaprio will star in The Devil in the White City, which will tell the tale of an early American serial killer. Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way Production partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran have acquired the rights to Erik Larson’s 2003 non-fiction book, along with Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Features. The plot revolves around Dr. HH Holmes, who will be portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio....
