Back in March 2010, director James Cameron wasn’t sure if he would make Battle Angel or Avatar 2 as his follow-up to the record-breaking Avatar. He eventually went with Avatar 2 and Avatar 3, although the filmmaker revealed recently he plans to make Battle Angel after his Pandora-set sequels. Here’s what he had to say, stressing that his sequels will do more good for a world audience. Battle Angel is based on Yukito Kishiro’s manga, and set in the 26th Century, a world where cyborgs have dominated the planet....

The director of this new documentary on the controversial boxer talks about the film, the fighter and future projects James Toback has distinguished himself as a filmmaker by working on his own terms. Toback, who received an Oscar nomination for his amazing screenplay for Bugsy, has now put his unique imprint on the world of documentaries with Tyson, which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 18. I had the chance to speak with this wonderful filmmaker over the phone about his wonderful documentary about the former undisputed heavyweight champion and here’s what he had to say....

Well, the bat is apparently out of the bag: Ben Affleck will be back as Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. As Affleck had seemingly departed from his take on the role with one last performance in the upcoming film The Flash, the news comes as a big surprise as there hadn’t been any indication that Batman would be involved with Aquaman 2. Jason Momoa personally broke the news with a pair of photos along with a video clip posted to Instagram, revealing Affleck on location where he’s been taking part in Aquaman 2 reshoots....

Legendary actor Jeremy Irons certainly wasn’t hiding his true feelings for Joss Whedon’s Justice League when the subject came up in a new interview with Variety, which was primarily to discuss his new movie Munich: The Edge of War. As is par for the course when it comes to any actor that has appeared in a Marvel or DC movie, the subject of his foray into the world of comic book movies came up when he was asked if he had seen the Zack Snyder version of Justice League yet, to which the actor responded with a frank honesty about his feelings for the original 2017 version of the superhero mashup....

Jerry Bruckheimer will receive the ShoWest 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award, it was announced today by Robert Sunshine, managing director of the event, which will be held March 15 - 18, 2010, in Las Vegas. Bruckheimer will be presented with the ShoWest Lifetime Achievement Award at ShoWest’s Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony on Thursday, March 18, at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films will also screen Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for ShoWest attendees on Thursday, March 18....

Spider-Man’s iconic villain Kraven will soon be heading to the big screen. Sony and Marvel will release Kraven the Hunter to theaters in early 2023. Set to be the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, it follows Venom, its sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius. This is the first solo film set to feature Kraven, but Marvel and other production companies have attempted to integrate the character into film for years....

Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way are in the early stages of requesting material for a feature version of one or more episodes from the classic TV series, The Twilight Zone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio and production company are quietly putting out word to creators that they are looking for pitches and script ideas based on the show for feature development. The companies are not seeking to remake an episodic movie, as the only big-screen version of the show did 25 years ago, but rather hope to build one continuing story line based on one or more episodes....

Donald Glover is not afraid to lay bare controversial socio-political commentary. Look no further than his viral video for This Is America. Glover’s comedy-drama series Atlanta has never shied away from tackling significant issues either, routinely dealing with themes of racism and whiteness. One subject most fans weren’t expecting though, was the recent cameo from Liam Neeson, where he discussed his controversial 2019 comments. Although a lot has been written about the Shazam! film to be directed by Peter Segal, and co-starring the Rock as Captain Marvel’s arch-foe, Black Adam, the project now seems to be dead. John August, who wrote the script for the film, recently wrote on his blog that after extensive studio reworking of the concept, the project is now not happening. By “dead”, August offered the following explanation: In the comics, Captain Marvel is a character whose powers are similar to Superman’s, but with a considerably different origin....

Knives Out sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is currently in theaters, but only for a week, and is doing incredibly well at the box office. Released in just 600 theaters across the country, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has so far made an impressive $15 million since it landed on big screens on November 23. According to a report via Variety, and “based on informed estimates,” the Knives Out sequel garnered an approximate total of $13 million over the extended Thanksgiving weekend, which equates to $19,000 per theater....

The upcoming Marvel sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vo. 3, will be looking to give fans something they have been waiting for for some time: classic Marvel Comics costumes. The Guardians’ new duds have debuted courtesy of some newly revealed set images shared to social media by Twitter user The Hollywood Handle (via JustJared). The handful of images shows Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and Karen Gillan’s Nebula sporting the iconic uniforms that will be familiar to those who have read the celebrated comic book run by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning....

John Wick director Chad Stahelski’s upcoming Highlander reboot starring The Witcher’s Henry Cavill will reportedly begin filming in 2022. During an in-depth exploration of Cavill’s career by The Hollywood Reporter, it is stated that Cavill is expected to start filming on the highly anticipated reboot next year, with Stahelski’s vision described as “a more grounded-in-reality take” when compared to the original movies and television show, and that the movie “will likely play a bit more like a modern tragedy....

Universal Pictures has tapped Irwin Winkler and Jose Ruisanchez to adapt the Robert Ludlum novel The Sigma Protocol. The story centers on a man who gets plunged into a vast conspiracy when he sees an old friend murder six people, while on vacation in Switzerland. The man teams up with a female federal agent to try and offset the threat on his life.
