Similarly to many Korean stars, from actors or singers, Lee Byung-hun began his career by auditioning for the famed Korean commercial television station, KBS. He first drew attention with the action K-drama Asphalt Man and romantic film The Harmonium in My Memory, but made his breakthrough with Park Chan-wook’s film Joint Security Area. Lee went on to star in a variety of different genres across South Korea cinema, but has also found his stride in international (mostly Hollywood) projects as well, even if he was sometimes met with racism....

Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse is officially set to make a comeback to the television screen at Apple TV+. The announcement recently came when Deadline reported a landmark deal that will bring Legendary’s pre-existing franchise to Apple TV+. It has also been revealed that an untitled live-action television series taking place in the MonsterVerse is already in the works, and will feature Godzilla and several other titans. New Line Home Entertainment is getting into the next generation game. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is dancing its way into the mix with Hairspray to be released on DVD and Blu-ray disc November 20. There are plans afoot for an HD-DVD release but currently no release date. “Clearly, there isn’t a format winner at this point, so we’re going to adopt the strategy from Warner, our sister company, and mirror what they are doing,” stated Matt Lasorsa, New Line’s executive vp marketing....

NBC has announced it will premiere the 13-episode Season 2 of the critically acclaimed drama Hannibal at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) Friday, Feb. 28 following Grimm after the previously-announced conclusion of the 10-episode run of Dracula. From creator Bryan Fuller, Hannibal stars Mads Mikkelsen as brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who is working with the FBI and gifted criminal profiler Will Graham, played by Hugh Dancy, to look into the mind of serial killers....

Helen Mirren may be starring in DC movie Shazam! Fury of The Gods, but it is clear that she hadn’t gone through the same pep talk about spoilers as Marvel casts receive. Speaking to The Associated Press, Mirren played it cool answering questions about her own character in the movie, but went on to reveal some details about co-star Rachel Zegler’s character which had previously been under wraps. A new image published by Entertainment Weekly provides our best look yet at the new Pinhead in Hulu’s Hellraiser reboot. Coming to the streaming platform this fall, the new film brings the franchise back to its roots with creator Clive Barker back on board as a consultant and producer. The film also presents a new Hell Priest, aka Pinhead, that’s more accurate to how the character is described in Barker’s original novella....

Avengers: Infinity War featured some shocking moments and even more shocking deaths. Before the opening title even appeared, several well-known characters met their demise, including Loki. While behind the scenes of the shoot was more lighthearted, on-screen fans were heartbroken. Thanos kills Loki in a brutal and tragic manner while Thor helplessly watches. If this wasn’t shocking enough, fans have wondered if the death was warranted. Loki knew what he was up against, yet he still tried to take out Thanos with a knife instead of something a bit more creative....

Madame Web is another in-house Spider-Man villain to which Sony retained the rights when making their deal with Marvel. Now Sony is looking once again for its way into the MCU with this new member of Peter Parker’s rogues’ gallery. But Madame Web is a different kind of villain that can hook the Sony Spider-Verse into the MCU without much trouble....

Things are getting a tad indy in December. In a story from DVD Times, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing the Steve Buscemi directed Interview on December 11. Synopsis: With Interview, his fourth directorial outing, American actor-cum-director Steve Buscemi reworks a 2003 feature by the ill-fated Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh. Van Gogh originally intended to shoot an English-language version of the picture himself, but Buscemi signed on after the director’s late 2004 assassination....

The two remaining studios backing HD DVD, Universal and Paramount, could switch sides soon, ending the high-def format war instantly. According to Variety, it has been confirmed that Universal’s commitment to backing HD DVD exclusively has ended. And Paramount has an escape clause in its HD DVD contract allowing it to release pics on Blu-ray after Warner Bros.’ decision to back that format exclusively. Neither studio is ready to throw in the towel immediately, however....

It seems that a remake of an 80s classic might have one more signed on to the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackie Chan is in negotiations for The Karate Kid remake. Exodus Film Group announced that it has cast Golden Globe winner John Goodman to voice the role of “Paul Bunyan” for their upcoming CG-animated film Bunyan & Babe. He will play “Paul Bunyan” in the family adventure film adaptation of the legend. Goodman, who is known for his portrayal of the blue-collar husband and father on TV’s Roseanne, received an Emmy nomination this year for his guest appearance on the NBC series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip....

The excitement just doesn’t seem to stop at the Walt Disney Showcase at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood today. Not too long ago, the USC Marching Band began playing the William Tell Overture and none other than Johnny Depp himself came walking out onto the stage, revealing two new projects with just his outfit alone. He came strolling out onto the stage wearing his full Captain Jack Sparrow costume from Pirates of the Caribbean AND he was wearing the mask of The Lone Ranger as well!...
