Green Lantern will bring one of DC Comics’ most popular characters to life on the big screen June 17. Star Ryan Reynolds indicated recently that the expansion of this universe from the original comic books is what sold him on taking on the role of Hal Jordan. Here’s what he had to say below, comparing Green Lantern to the Star Wars franchise. The actor also talked about the tone of Green Lantern, revealing it isn’t as dark as The Dark Knight, but isn’t overly light in tone either....

It was confirmed in July that Steve Carell was leaving the hit NBC comedy series The Office after its seventh season. Now, according to E! Online, Harvey Keitel’s name has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Michael Scott as the head of Dunder/Mifflin’s Scranton branch. HBO is about to add some adult-sized comedy to its roster. According to Variety, the network’s new president Sue Naegle, who just officially started at the channel on Monday, has picked up Hung, a project written by The Riches creator Dmitry Lipkin and his wife Colette Burson. The dark comedy series will focus on a well-endowed man who used to be a sports star in high school and is now fading into mediocrity in his middle-aged years as a father and high school basketball coach....

Disney has announced that a new viewing experience called IMAX Enhanced will be coming to Disney+ starting on Nov. 12. IMAX Enhanced will be available for 13 Marvel movies including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which debuts on Disney+ on the same day. The IMAX Enhanced option expands the selected Disney films to IMAX’s extended aspect ratio which shows about 26% more of the movie than widescreen. However, the widescreen option will still be available....

Lego has had tremendous success with their Star Wars license. Now, according to Cool Toy Review, they are going to start making Indiana Jones 4 playsets. Jake Gyllenhaal will portray James Dalton in the upcoming reimagining of the 1980s cult classic film Road House. The original 1989 film starred Patrick Swayze, who Gyllenhall worked with on the 2001 film Donnie Darko. While appearing with Gabrielle Union on Good Morning America to discuss their new film Strange World, Gyllenhaal spoke fondly of the late Swayze: Swayze portrayed James Dalton in the original Road House. Jared Padalecki has joined Peter O’Toole in the biopic, The Christmas Cottage for Lionsgate. He’ll play Thomas Kinkade in the film, based on his painting of the same name; Kinkade was one of America’s most collected living artists who used his gift as an artist to portray his life-affirming values and explore the world around him, notes The Hollywood Reporter. O’Toole will play a painter named Glen Wessler, based on one of Kinkade’s mentors....
